Any fans of MMA out there?

Just been reading on ESPN that one of the biggest names in combat sports is a free agent. Brock Lesnar no longer is under contract with WWE.

Lesnar has been one of the biggest stars in MMA and pro wrestling since the early 2000s. He's a multiple-time WWE champion and former UFC heavyweight champion. And he's one of the biggest pay-per-view draws in UFC history.

Since 2012, Lesnar has mainly been back with WWE after his four-year run in the UFC. But Lesnar returned to the Octagon to beat Mark Hunt at UFC 200 in 2016, a bout that was overturned to a no-contest after a Lesnar positive drug test.

Each time Lesnar's contract with WWE has come up over the years, the UFC has been part of the conversation. Lesnar is a former NCAA champion in amateur wrestling.

Brock v Ngannou would be tasty.

Brock will end up back in WWE, I'm near 100% certain on that. He's just riding the Covid wave for now.

At the UFC, he would have to enter USADA, and I don't think he can cheat his way into a fight just like the last time.

Does anyone really want a rematch for that one?

I don't hate the idea of Jorge/Nate 2, in all honesty. What's the alternative? Nate to sit on the sidelines and Masvidal to fight Edwards? Nah, I think I'd rather just have those two go at it again. Besides, after all the years of fighting they've accumulated, they deserve to get paid and this is probably their best way of ensuring they do, aside from a fight with McGregor.

Yeah there's no harm in it really, both nowhere near title contention really, both not harming any rankings etc taking the fight and the last one was an entertaining fight (more entertaining than most of Usman's fights for example and he's the champion in their division.)

Lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov beats Justin Gaethje by second-round technical knockout at UFC 254. Nurmagomedov then announces his retirement while still in the cage.

Just non stop pressure, the absolute P4P number 1. Good to see him go out on top as he deserves, nothing left to prove.

And I actually believe him unlike others who "retire" then return a few months later.. Brilliant fighter.

Former two-weight world champion Conor McGregor was left stunned on his return to the UFC as Dustin Poirier claimed victory in their rematch at UFC 257.

McGregor came out of retirement for a third time to face fellow 32-year-old Poirier at Abu Dhabi's Fight Island.

And although the Irishman edged the first round, Poirier unleashed a flurry of punches to seal a technical knockout two minutes 32 seconds into round two.

"I'm gutted, it's a tough one to swallow," said McGregor.

"His leg kicks were good, my leg was dead and I wasn't as comfortable as I needed to be. I have to dust it off and come back."

Surprised with how disappointed I am, still fairly invested even though I don't like him outside of the octagon (and I'm actually quite fond of Dustin Poirier). Feels like the end of an era really, even assuming he does fight on.

McGregor didn't look bad per se, but he's clearly past his peak. Regardless of when the knockout came, he really hasn't a hope of winning with the way his leg was unless he had gotten the KO himself before the end of round 2.

McGregor is finished...and I'm a huge fan!

I hindsight and despite the money, the Floyd Mayweather fight was the worst thing that ever happened to him. While he was pissing around with that, making money, getting coked up and losing to Khabib, Poirier was busy actually fighting people, which is what you are meant to do.

Lucky for McGregor, the UFC, unlike boxing , doesn't really care about losses. He can still make money, but I don't see him being champ again.

That was piss poor. Fair play to him for staying around for the interview but you can't say your build up ad perfect then complain when you lose
