He's awake now and communicating through writing (still has a tube in so can't speak).

Getting him to breathe on his own, continuing to improve and then getting him home are the main targets.

Doctors say Damar Hamlin is awake but he cannot speak and has a breathing tube in. However, he's communicating through writing Hamlin asked who won the game, and doctors responded, "Damar, you won. You won the game of life."

The breathing tube was removed from Hanlin last night. He's already face timing teammates.

NFL owners approved a resolution Friday to potentially adjust the AFC playoffs, including a possible neutral-site conference title game, the league announced. The decision arrives after the initial postponement of the game after Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field during Monday night's game. Here's what you need to know:

• The NFL cancelled the Week 17 Bills–Bengals game on Thursday, necessitating the playoff alterations.
• There are three scenarios in which the AFC Championship Game could be played at a neutral site, involving the Chiefs, Bills and Bengals. A tentative neutral-site location hasn't been announced.
• Buffalo has already clinched the AFC East, while the Bengals lead, but haven't clinched, the AFC North.
• The Bills host the Patriots in Week 18. The Bengals host the Ravens.

2. Bills (12-3)
3. Bengals (11-4)
4. Jaguars (8-8)

Playoff adjustment scenarios

NFL owners approved a resolution Friday consisting of the following:

• The AFC Championship Game will be played at a neutral site if the participating teams played an unequal number of games and both could have been the No. 1 seed and hosted the game had all AFC clubs played a full 17-game regular season. Those circumstances involve Buffalo or Cincinnati qualifying for the game as a road team and are listed below:
  • Scenario 1: Buffalo and Kansas City both win or both tie — a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
  • Scenario 2: Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Baltimore wins or ties — a Buffalo vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
  • Scenario 3: Buffalo and Kansas City both lose and Cincinnati wins — a Buffalo or Cincinnati vs. Kansas City championship game would be at a neutral site.
• If Baltimore defeats Cincinnati in Week 18, it will have defeated Cincinnati — a divisional opponent — twice but will not be able to host a playoff game because Cincinnati will have a higher winning percentage for a 16-game schedule than Baltimore will for a 17-game schedule. If Baltimore defeats Cincinnati and if those two clubs are scheduled to play a Wild Card game against one another, the site for that game would be determined by a coin toss. If Cincinnati wins the Week 18 game or if Baltimore and Cincinnati are not scheduled to play one another in the Wild Card round, the game sites would be determined by the regular scheduling procedures.
