The Texans have fired head coach Lovie Smith, the team's CEO Cal McNair and general manager Nick Caserio announced Sunday.

• Smith, 64, went 3-13-1 with Houston in the 2022 season. It was his only season as the team's head coach.
• It's the third time in the franchise's 21-year history that the team finished with three wins or less in a season. The others occurred in 2005 and 2013 with Houston finishing the season at 2-14.
• This was the third time Smith held an NFL head coaching job, with his other stints being with the Bears and Buccaneers. He has a career 92-100-1 NFL head coaching record.
• McNair said in a statement Sunday that he will work alongside Caserio to hire Smith's replacement: "I'm confident we will find the right leader for our football team."

Winning yesterday and missing out on the number 1 pick means Lovie got the last laugh against a team clearly using him as a bridge guy.

The Cardinals have fired head coach Kliff Kingsbury, while general manager Steve Keim has stepped away to focus on his health, the team announced Monday.

• The Cardinals plummeted to a 4-13 record in 2022, only one year after the team went 11-6 earning an NFC Wild Card berth. Arizona ended the season on a seven-game losing streak.
• Kingsbury, 43, finished his four-year run with the Cardinals with a 28-37-1 regular season record and an 0-1 postseason mark. Arizona only had one winning season under Kingsbury.
• The Cardinals finished near the bottom of the league in points scored and points allowed in the 2022 season.
• Keim had been the general manager since Jan. 2013. Arizona went 80-80-2 with Keim as GM.

Not surprising, had a losing record in college and somehow got the Cardinals job. Teams started well most years but always struggled down the stretch.

Doesn't help when QB is banged up after about 10 games each year.

On a bit of a tangent, now the regular season is in the books and, theoretically, the determination of who is the MVP, who do we think gets it? It seems like there isn't quite a clear cut candidate as there has generally been in recent years, although I suppose Mahomes must be favourite?

Took them about five years too long. Completely wasted Murray's rookie deal with that fraud.

I can't really see past Mahomes for MVP.

Jalen Hurts has been injured and neither Joe Burrow nor Josh Allen has hit the heights that Mahomes has this season. And it won't be a non-QB that wins MVP.
