The post provides some pertinent information but lacks clarity on transfer window specifics and context about the situation. A bit more detail and a clear structure would enhance its value to the community.

In France, PSG confirm that Edison Cavani will leave the club.
Always liked Cavani, always gives it his all. A fine player with a great eye for goal.

Big Cavani fan too, he could still do a good job for a big club although I don't think he had much success against English opposition when facing them in European ties. In January it was reported as nailed on to sign for Atletico Madrid on a free this summer but haven't seen that come up again recently.

Can't see much money spent this summer. Liverpool passed on Werner at a fair price but still couldn't justify that money on a player who essentially would be a sub. Chelsea desperately needed a striker though and have the money from Hazard still.

All these big-money moves the papers are spinning won't come off. Too much uncertainty with this virus still.

I think a lot of teams, England especially, will be waiting for the likes of Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea to start spending and get the money flowing in a domino effect.

I don't have overall figures but Real Madrid and Man City both spent massively in the summer of 2009 in the middle of worldwide banking crisis and recession and just to try to gain a further advantage over other clubs that could not. Real Madrid funded Man United and Liverpool's summer transfers with no extra funds put towards transfers for both clubs. Man City were an outlier in England, and their domestic transfers largely funded the summer transfers of Arsenal, Aston Villa, Everton and Blackburn.

A lot of the top clubs struggled to spend that summer and relied on sales to fund their purchases.

Recessions don't hit football clubs, the prospect of playing behind closed doors if there is another wave or the season been suspended is very real though and you can be sure the TV rights holders will be looking for something back then.

Maybe the larger clubs can spend but you'll see none of the smaller clubs spending who are so reliant on TV revenue.

What do you mean by this?
It doesn't effect a Premier League football club. I don't remember anything in 2008/2009? A time when Real Madrid broke the world record for Ronaldo. Provided the TV rights keep paying dividends for clubs, the train keeps going.

This is unprecedented though, empty stadiums and the threat of the season been cut short.

At the very very top level, they're less hit by it than other entertainment industries, but still demonstrably affected.

Looking at the Premier League record spending for instance, the record transfer fee has consistently been broken on a regular basis. Except - between 2009's KDB and 2014's Di Maria, it wasn't. Which of course is the same time the British public were reacting to a recession. After this 5 year gap ended with Di Maria's signing, the record has been broken a further 8 times - back to business as usual!

Recessions generally speaking probably won't break the back of the PL, but they definitely effect it.

This is a good visual indicator as well of the drop back into more conservative spending across Europe (particularly 2010, 2011, and 2012), before the return to massive growth in 2015.
