Tottenham Have Sacked Jose Mourinho Soccer

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Tottenham after just 17 months in charge.

The club are currently 7th in the Premier League and will play in the Carabao Cup Final against Man City this Sunday.

The Portuguese replaced Mauricio Pochettino as Spurs manager in November 2019 and guided the club to sixth in the Premier League last season.

They have picked up two points from their last three league games, and were knocked out of the Europa League in March.

Results have been poor. He has probably "lost" the dressing room as he has almost every other club he's been at but it is quite strange to do it a week before the cup final.

I wouldn't feel too sorry for Jose.

Mourinho has had four of his contracts terminated early since he first joined Chelsea - Chelsea in 2007, Real Madrid in 2013, Chelsea again in 2015, and Manchester United in 2018.

The cost of those early terminations is listed in the accounts of each of the English clubs in question. They come to a combined total of £50.97m - Chelsea (first time): £23.07m, Chelsea (second time) £8.30m, Manchester United: £19.60m

There is no documentation of how much here received from Real Madrid but his annual salary was reportedly £11.20m-a-year and he had 3 years remaining on his contract.

He will receive around £16 million from Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur is closing in on Gennaro Gattuso after talks with Paulo Fonseca collapsed after days of negotiations.

The club had been in advanced talks with Fonseca since last week. Talks broke down, however, and Spurs have now turned their attention to Gattuso.

Gattuso can be added to the pile that won't be the next manager.

Sacking Pochettino really was a terrible mistake, it wasn't working but Mourinho wasn't the solution. There was a slide with Pochettino but they should of done everything they could to keep him and support him.
