Undisputed (2024)
Boxing isn't just about throwing punches. The ring is a strategic battlefield where fighters can choose an angle of attack, set up traps, and outsmart opponents through clever tactics. That's why we've added several layers of fight mechanics to Undisputed, giving more control than ever to master the Sweet Science.
  • Play through the epic journey from amateur boxing tournaments, all the way to becoming Undisputed Champion, in the true-to-life Career Mode.
  • Create your own fighter with Character Creator, customising everything from build, to tattoos, to shorts and gloves.
  • Revolutionary footwork mechanics, including a Loose Movement toggle to help you get around the ring with ease, and Flat-Footed Movement when your stamina drops.
  • More than 60 individual punches. Punch from multiple angles and directions. Feint to set up a trap and counter.
  • All the tools needed to be a defensive wizard. Slip punches, weave, dodge, and block.
  • Physics driven interactions, so punches can sometimes go around or even through the guard.
  • Up close and personal inside fighting like never before.
  • Manage stamina over the course of a fight with the Adrenaline system.
  • 50 Attributes & Traits to differentiate styles and capabilities of fighters.
  • Multiple AI styles and difficulty settings for everyone from amateurs to pound-for-pound masters.

Initial responses highlight significant disappointment with the game's launch, particularly regarding movement and gameplay fluidity. Many users express nostalgia for previous boxing games, indicating a tough benchmark for newcomers. The feedback indicates a consensus that more patches might be necessary for improvement.12

As the thread progresses, some users who have played the game share their experiences, revealing that while there are flaws, enjoyment is still possible. Players are eager for updates, and hopeful for enhancements in performance and gameplay mechanics.34

In later posts, discussion shifts towards the recent updates, with some players showing optimism about the developers' commitment to refining the game. However, critiques about the persistence of bugs, particularly in online modes, continue to dominate the conversation.56

"This game is a turd. A big fat turd!"

"It's massively flawed as expected but still enjoyable imo."

Verdict

While there are mixed feelings about the game's current state, community engagement and developer response suggest a desire for improvement. The future of Undisputed relies on ongoing updates and player feedback.

Been so hyped for this, but the Xbox Store feedback is terrible.

I've added the live game stream to show what it is like.

I've been desperate for a boxing game for so long but this is not getting great reviews.

No boxing game will ever live up to the pinnacle of boxing games which was Barry McGuigan World Championship Boxing for the Commodore 64.

I've not played this but from what I've seen on videos and streams, the movements are clunky, and it doesn't look very fluid. It might improve through feedback and patches/updates but I'd probably hold off buying it just now.

I've been playing it since Wednesday and I'm enjoying it tbh, much like Fight Night but better looking and career mode more in depth.

I do agree though that the movement and punching could be improved.

I've been keeping an eye on feedback after the full release and I think it is best to wait until a few patches/updates have been applied before considering buying.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I've been reading. I did see something about an update coming in December but I don't think it addresses many of the problems (can't find the article now).

Found the patch "notes"

We want to thank everyone for supporting Undisputed, both through Early Access and since our full launch last week. This project has been a huge labour of love and as we've said many times, we are committed to making the greatest boxing game of all time.

It is great to see so many people playing and enjoying Undisputed, but we are also aware of a number of issues affecting the game, especially around online multiplayer. We sincerely apologise to any players impacted and appreciate your patience as we work to fix them.

To ensure we're delivering significant and high-quality improvements, our first update is planned to drop in mid-December. We know that feels like a long time, however this enables us to properly test, refine, and tweak the fixes so that you get the best experience possible. It also enables us to deliver on these fixes without a knock-on impact to other planned updates that we know players care about both in the December and future updates, such as improvements to blocking and career mode.

We are focusing on what we believe, based on your feedback, are the most critical issues:
  • Stagger hit reactions causing desync issues, which lead to players being unable to fight effectively.
  • Power punches consistently bleed through blocks, meaning winning a fight online is largely down to throwing power punches.
  • Deontay Wilder is overpowered – particularly his power hook.
  • Some DLC fighters are unable to be used online.
  • Player becomes stuck in an infinite transition screen after winning through an Injury TKO.
  • For a minority of users, DLC doesn't appear for secondary accounts on Xbox.
We don't intend to stop here, however - we are planning further updates that will provide even more improvements, game balancing, penalties for players quitting early during matches, and additional features.

Thank you for you bearing with us.

I've been playing this on career mode since launch day. It's massively flawed as expected but still enjoyable imo. I'm hoping they keep improving it with updates especially online mode which is pretty rubbish.

I really want to play it but every review I've seen has been absolutely horrific. Really want to be convinced by it.
