£249 for the lower end model is great. I can see people picking it up just to use as a Game Pass machine for this generation alongside a PS5.

Yeah, I may do that myself in the depending on how the Series S is received. I do expect Sony to push PS Now a lot harder for the upcoming generation though

Seems really good pricing on both consoles considering what's in the box.

Can see a lot of people going for those finance options, they're decent value and gets people on board with game pass and live.

As opposed to 4 or 5 games on the £500 consoles, unfortunately. Going to be an issue whichever device.

I probably don't "game" enough to justify spending half a grand on a console so £250 + game pass is probably the way forward. It's nice to have the option!

Looks like The Series S doesn't have the same backwards compatibility as the One X

Xbox Series X enhancements won't apply to backwards compatible titles on Xbox Series S, instead, the latter will run the Xbox One S version of the games.

Speaking with Gamespew, according to the spokesperson, Xbox Series X enhancements on backwards compatible titles won't be applied with the less expensive Xbox Series S model.

Xbox Series S was designed to be the most affordable next-generation console and play next-generation games at 1440P at 60fps.

To deliver the highest quality backwards compatible experience consistent with the developer's original intent, the Xbox Series S runs the Xbox One S version of backward compatible games while applying improved texture filtering, higher and more consistent frame rates, faster load times, and Auto HDR.

Basically, current-gen games will still look good on the Series S console, just not as well as they will on Xbox Series X, apparently.
