Quinoa generally provides more protein and fibre than rice, but the better choice depends on the meal and what is needed from it.

Quinoa and rice can be used in bowls, stir-fries, soups, salads and meal prep, but they are not the same food. Quinoa is technically a seed and is described as a pseudo-cereal, meaning it is used like a cereal grain even though it comes from a different type of plant.

Brown rice and white rice also differ. Brown rice is a whole grain, while white rice is refined, with the bran and germ removed. That processing also removes some of the nutrients found there, including protein and fibre.

A simple comparison shows the differences per cooked cup:

• Quinoa: 222 calories, 8.1 g protein, 39.4 g carbs, 5.2 g fibre
• Brown rice: 218 calories, 4.5 g protein, 45.8 g carbs, 3.5 g fibre
• White rice: 205 calories, 4.3 g protein, 44.5 g carbs, 0.6 g fibre

These numbers can vary slightly by rice type, brand, serving weight and cooking method.

Quinoa is the stronger choice if the aim is to increase protein and fibre. Research reviews describe quinoa protein as complete because it provides all essential amino acids.

That does not mean rice has no place in a meal. Brown rice remains a whole-grain option, while white rice can still work well when paired with foods such as beans, lentils, vegetables, eggs, tofu, fish, chicken or yoghurt-based sauces.

White rice can also be useful around training and workouts because its easily digestible carbohydrates can help replenish glycogen and provide quick energy.

Instead of treating quinoa and rice like an either-or choice, think about what your body needs from the meal.

The long-running Manchester City financial case appears to have reached a major stage, with reports that the club has been found guilty of almost all of the Premier League charges brought against it.

City were originally charged in February 2023 following an investigation that began several years earlier. The allegations cover a period between 2009 and 2018 and include claims relating to financial reporting, payments to players and coaches, UEFA financial regulations and the Premier League's own financial rules. Manchester City have consistently denied the allegations and are expected to appeal.

What makes the situation particularly interesting now is that no final punishment has been decided yet. The Premier League's rules allow a wide range of sanctions, from a fine or reprimand to a points deduction or, in the most extreme circumstances, expulsion from the Premier League. The question also remains whether any sporting punishment could have retrospective consequences.

This case has already been going on for years, and City have won numerous major trophies during the period covered by the allegations. That naturally raises some big questions about what happens next and what any eventual punishment should actually mean for the club, its supporters and the Premier League.

There are also questions about the wider impact. If a significant sporting sanction is eventually imposed, how should titles, league positions and past results be treated? And if City successfully appeal some or all of the findings, how much longer could the whole process continue?

For now, though, the important point is that the reported findings are not the end of the process. The sanctions still have to be determined, and any appeal could potentially take the case even further.

What do you think should happen next? Should the focus be purely on an appropriate sporting punishment, or could this case have much wider consequences for how financial regulations are enforced in the Premier League?

Step into the misty Scottish Highlands and let soft Celtic ambient melodies guide you into calm, clarity, and quiet inner peace.

This video blends delicate instrumental music with cinematic fog-covered landscapes - rolling green hills fading into the mist, silent lochs under grey skies, and the gentle movement of clouds across ancient mountains - creating a soothing atmosphere designed for deep focus, relaxation, and emotional stillness.

A solitary figure, quietly immersed in the landscape, reflects introspection and a connection to something timeless. Wrapped in fog and silence, the Highlands feel distant, almost dreamlike, inviting you to slow down and simply exist in the moment.

The music is intentionally warm and unobtrusive, inspired by traditional Celtic tones and the natural rhythm of the land, allowing your mind to drift peacefully without distraction.

One of the wildest mountain bike videos I've seen.

This dish is not only packed with wholesome ingredients like canned lentils, mushrooms, and nuts, but it also steers clear of overly processed soy products.
