I went to Tesco this morning. Everybody wearing a face covering including the staff on the shop floor. Staff on the checkout no masks but they are all behind a perspex screen. I asked one of the staff if they'd had any issues with folk objecting but none thus far other than a couple of people being turned away who went without causing any hassle.

I'm not long back from the Sainsbury's near my house, was much the same. Everyone wearing a face covering.

I would've thought it would be pertinent for supermarkets to actually have wee disposable masks at the doors for people. Seems mad to turn folk who are potentially spending over £50 in your shop for not wearing a mask that cost would cost about 50p to hand out. I get that the responsibility is on the person, but I still thought shops might cater for people who are ignorant to the rules in order to still get their money.

I would assume the majority of those not wearing a face covering are doing so deliberately and wouldn't wear one even if it was given to them for free. Everyone has had ample time to get them by now.

I'm fair looking forward to going to visit friends tomorrow but there's bit of apprehension as well.

It's going to be great to see other people but it is going to be different from past get-togethers with sticking to (or at least trying) social distancing etc. There was comfort to be found in this wee self-contained bubble we've existed in. Almost a form of institutionalisation. Doing something previously as ordinary as going to visit friends now seems like a big deal. The natural result of approaching four months of Lockdown I suppose.

It was a bit hit and miss today when I was in the Asda, mainly younger folk not wearing masks though. I had to pop to Tesco for something else later and the guy who was on the door was happy to let folk in who weren't wearing a mask, just warning them they could get fined by the police. Similar to the buses here, I imagine staff aren't prepared to enforce masks as it's not fair they cop the abuse if someone kicks off about it.

England about to follow our lead and make masks compulsory in shops possibly according to the BBC.

I reckon 95% of people yesterday wore masks. Social distancing however seems to have fallen away.

7 new cases today is much more like what we'd like to be seeing instead of the 18 recorded the other day! Looking very likely now we will finish the week with just 2 confirmed deaths, which is really encouraging. Hopefully not far away from that being zero.

That is good news. Friday seems to now be the day to watch out for any increases.

Face coverings will not be made mandatory in shops, Michael Gove said – two days after Boris Johnson hinted that England could copy Scotland by introducing the rule.

Meanwhile, Scotland's first minister Nicola Sturgeon said she would be prepared to impose a border quarantine with England to prevent the spread of the virus if necessary, though there were no "immediate plans" to do so.
