Quite a few months later than expected, but Nintendo/ The Pokémon Company are finally suing the Palworld developer.

Not going to pretend to know enough about Japanese intellectual property / patent law to speculate how this will go, but a very, very interesting case to keep an eye on… I know internet sleuths showed that some of the monster designs and animations / assets were strikingly similar to Pokémon ones.

A sequel to Alien: Isolation is currently in early development, the developer announced.

In a message celebrating the survival horror game's 10th anniversary, creative director Alistair Hope confirmed the sequel's development.

"Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development," Hope said. "We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready."

To our fans around the world,

It's hard to believe that it has been 10 years since we embarked on our journey with the release of Alien: Isolation.

When we started developing Alien: Isolation, we had one guiding principle: to create a truly authentic experience that went back to the roots of the Alien franchise—a new story capturing the atmosphere and terror of the original 1979 movie masterpiece.

It's been nothing short of incredible to witness your passion for the game over the years and see it reach so many players around the world.
On the 10th anniversary, it seems only fitting to let you know that we have heard your distress calls loud and clear.

Today, I'm delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Alien: Isolation is in early development. We look forward to sharing more details with you when we're ready.

Once again, thank you.
Until next time,
Al Hope, Creative Director, Alien: Isolation

Three more Tomb Raider games are getting remastered courtesy of Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr, bringing fans back to the time when the hallowed series was starting to be considered a little long in the tooth.

The Tomb Raider IV-IV Remastered features an updated version of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation, Tomb Raider: Chronicles, and Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness. The first two were originally released for the PlayStation 1 and Dreamcast, while the third one came out on PlayStation 2. All three are considered lesser entries by many fans, with Angel of Darkness in particular being known for being buggy and unfinished.

Here are the official descriptions of all three games.

Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation (1999)
Lara Croft uncovers the lost tomb of the Egyptian God Set, unwittingly unleashing him and fulfilling an ancient prophecy—one that plunges mankind into darkness. Pursued at every turn by her arch-rival, the unscrupulous archaeologist Werner Von Croy, Lara embarks on a journey of discovery across Egypt, where she must overcome the most ingenious puzzles and infernal traps ever devised while facing terrifying evil from beyond the grave.

Tomb Raider: Chronicles (2000)
Following the events of The Last Revelation, Lara Croft is buried in an Egyptian tomb and presumed dead. At her memorial, those closest to her reminisce about secrets from her past. Travel back and experience Lara's untold adventures, introducing new gameplay mechanics like stealth and tightrope balancing!

Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness (2003)
Accused of murder, Lara becomes a fugitive on the run, uncovering a sinister conspiracy involving alchemical experiments and the search for ancient artefacts. It's up to Lara to stop this unholy alliance from unleashing its incredible powers on the world.

Aspyr's collection will seek to spruce all of these games up a bit with improved visuals, modern control options, trophies, achievements, and of course, a Photo Mode. They follow in the footsteps of the Tomb Raider I - III Remastered Collection released earlier this year, which was developed in part by a fan who had previously been working on remakes of the original games.

Nice. I've never made it all the way through the first game, but I enjoyed what I played of it.

EA has been paying close attention to the release of Undisputed. Apparently, a new Fight Night game could be on the way!

This is according to Insider Gaming journalist Mike Straw, who noted on the MSM podcast that EA seems keen on creating a new Fight Night title, but he doesn't expect it to arrive for a few years yet:

"They've seen the interest in Undisputed. They have noticed that people are talking..."
"I can tell you that after years of on-and-off again, Fight Night is in the stage where EA is working on what they have to do to get this out. And, should it release, it'll release on current-gen Xbox and PlayStation hardware. 3-4 years is a good window for them... like, 2028 is a good window."

We have heard rumours about Fight Night being brought back in the past that never came to fruition, so who knows if EA ends up pulling the plug on this revival once again. It has been 13 years since the last entry!

I'd definitely be up for another Fight Night game - Fight Night Champion is still very playable after all these years (our tournaments are testament to this)

I wonder what the sales expectations were? Surely the budget wouldn't have been that big compared to their 'AAA' games and I wonder if it was measured against them?

"Sales expectations" are always what will please the shareholders rather than an actual realistic number. They also bolloxed themselves by waiting months to release it on Steam, especially since it's a perfect Steamdeck game. By the time it was released on Steam, people didn't really care.

A real shame as it's a really great game and really took me by surprise.
