As Prime Minister made clear the US has to be willing to play its part, there were mixed messages coming out of America.

The secretary of state Marco Rubio said America was ready to engage with Ukraine. But the US national security adviser Mike Waltz suggested Zelensky might have to resign as part of any ceasefire.

I can't see Russia, and possibly even the US, agreeing to what is being proposed although we don't have all the details yet.

Russia has already said it won't accept troops of any sort being on the ground.

Trump and Vance - who knows what is going on in their heads.

Sadly, I don't hold out much hope for the plans Europe are trying to put forward. I don't think we can rely on America at all. The plan should be to move forward without America - they are neither reliable nor trustworthy anymore. America is more likely to make economic and business deals with Russia in the coming months than provide any security guarantees for Ukraine or Europe.

Just this morning, Trump has again spouted more lies. He has claimed he is the only US president not to have handed any Ukrainian land over to Vladimir Putin.

There are no US presidents to have ever given any Ukrainian land to Vladimir Putin's Russia.

I hope this isn't true but if it is I hope all this comes back to bite America. Ukraine had soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan for America as did the UK, NATO and other members. That was America's war. Not once did anyone ask for money off American or demand shady deals. Then American pissed off at the drop of a hat. Now this, they have to be left on their from now on. Start opening European and NATO factories in other countries and start moving contracts as soon as possible. I absolutely despise that country at the minute.

The White House has announced the US will pause military aid for Ukraine.

The development was first reported by US outlet Bloomberg.

"The US is pausing all current military aid to Ukraine until Trump determines the country's leaders demonstrate a good-faith commitment to peace," Bloomberg reports.

Neither the Pentagon, nor President Donald Trump, have commented so far.

Bloomberg adds that all US military equipment not currently in Ukraine would be paused, including weapons in transit and at depots in Poland.

"The President has been clear that he is focused on peace. We need our partners to be committed to that goal as well. We are pausing and reviewing our aid to ensure that it is contributing to a solution," a White House official said.

This is a devastating blow to both Ukraine and Europe. Ukraine are going to lose out in the mineral deal with US and also cede land to Russia, and have no security guarantees from the US. It is sickening and despicable.

Ukraine should strike a mineral deal with Europe and leave America out. Europe needs to grasp the fact that Trump hates the EU and is more aligned with Russia. There is no longer a special relationship between the US and EU.

It is absolutely disgusting tactics by America. They are basically putting the Ukrainians in an impossible situation. I hope history doesn't forget this despicable act for a long time. Zelensky has finally replied on Twitter/X - hopefully he has taken some advice from European leaders too.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said his disastrous meeting with Donald Trump last week "did not go the way it was supposed to" and "it is regrettable that it happened this way".

He added: "It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive."

Days after the volatile meeting in the Oval Office, the US president ordered a pause in military support to Ukraine.

In a lengthy post on X the Ukrainian president said he would like to "reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace" and said Kyiv is "ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible".

Here is Zelenskyy's post in full:

I would like to reiterate Ukraine's commitment to peace.

None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump's strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.

We are ready to work fast to end the war, and the first stages could be the release of prisoners and truce in the sky — ban on missiles, long-ranged drones, bombs on energy and other civilian infrastructure — and truce in the sea immediately, if Russia will do the same. Then we want to move very fast through all next stages and to work with the US to agree a strong final deal.

We do really value how much America has done to help Ukraine maintain its sovereignty and independence. And we remember the moment when things changed when President Trump provided Ukraine with Javelins. We are grateful for this.

Our meeting in Washington, at the White House on Friday, did not go the way it was supposed to be. It is regrettable that it happened this way. It is time to make things right. We would like future cooperation and communication to be constructive.

Regarding the agreement on minerals and security, Ukraine is ready to sign it in any time and in any convenient format. We see this agreement as a step toward greater security and solid security guarantees, and I truly hope it will work effectively.

I actually don't think this will be the last time the Yanks screw Ukraine. I hope I'm wrong but I think there will be at least another "betrayal" by Team Trump.

There has been a barrage of how much it has cost America, but all reports indicate the figures are wrong and Trump has inflated the cost. But folks will see 100s of billions of dollars flowing out and think why the hell are we paying that for a country that let's be honest the vast amount of Americans wouldn't get within a country mile of pointing out on a map, nevermind knowing much about the ins and outs of it all from the breakup of the old Eastern Block to Crimea and so on. Then there are a sizeable amount that will swallow the whole bullshit that America wasn't respected when Trump and Vance staged the Oval Office fiasco.

It is disgusting and nothing short of blackmail from a country that is supposedly an ally of the country invaded by an enemy of America.

I just get the horrid feeling there is another twist or two to come.
