The Witcher 3 is getting a next-gen update on December 14, free for all owners of the game on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.

In terms of what's actually being tweaked, the game will be receiving "dozens" of boosts to visuals, performance, faster loading times, and technical improvements. It'll also be getting Ray-tracing support, and a variety of mods integrated fully into the game. In short, it's set to be the best-running, prettiest-looking The Witcher 3 version on consoles.

For those interested in the series off the back of The Witcher Netflix show, the game will also be receiving new content inspired by said series. We've no word as to what that'll be exactly, but a stream planned next week on the CD Projekt Red Twitch channel will apparently reveal more.

For those without a next-generation console, several improvements are also planned for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions of The Witcher 3, as well as the Netflix Witcher-themed content. However, as of writing, there is no release date for that update.

I'm getting a bit overwhelmed by this game. I have done many missions and there are still tonnes highlighted on the map. I still haven't read all the information boards in the area I'm in now. And I done the bare minimum in the starting area or the second area I forget which. I think it's the first area. AFAIK, I'm in the second area with the big city up near the top. (I started the game years ago so I forget how the game started)

I may give the game a break for a while and come back fresh. It's a good game but there is just so much to do.

This marks the third expansion for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and is set to launch in 2027, a significant 12 years after the original game debuted in 2015 and 11 years following the release of the second expansion, Blood and Wine.

While specific details about Songs of the Past are still under wraps, the anticipation is already building. Fans are eager to see what new adventures and stories will be introduced, and how they will expand upon the already incredible lore of the series.
