Oh, that's a massive blunder by the Buffalo defense, but followed up with a sack.

Wow, CJ Stroud fumbles the ball on the final drive and the Bills come away with the win!

Stroud's regression from his rookie year is strange.

He may never recover from his playoff turnover nightmare last season.

Lions made hard work of beating the Saints, but a win is a win.

Kyler Murray didn't last long for the Vikings. Out with a concussion after half a quarter

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold appears to have avoided a major injury, but his return timeline remains uncertain after leaving Wednesday night's opener early.

Coach Mike Macdonald said Thursday that the team received "really, really good news" after further testing on Darnold's hip. The tests did not reveal any major concerns, and Macdonald said the issue appears to be more of a muscle injury than anything structural.

"The hip is intact, and it's good," Macdonald said. "It's more like a muscle thing. So that's good. So how long is that? We don't know yet."

Darnold was injured while being sacked by Dre'Mont Jones on the fifth play of the game. He left after just five plays, and the Seahawks later ruled out a possible hip fracture.

Caleb Williams, Brock Purdy and Trevor Lawrence made the biggest jumps into the top half of the quarterback rankings after their season debuts backed up the belief that each is growing more comfortable in his system.

Chicago Bears coach Ben Johnson has helped Williams channel his physical talent into something more controlled and dangerous for defenses. That showed up in a huge win over the Carolina Panthers, with the Bears putting up 59 points. Williams finished with 269 passing yards, 65 rushing yards and four touchdowns, without a turnover. He looked much more like the quarterback who closed 2025 strong than the one who struggled in his first playoff appearances. Johnson has narrowed Williams' reads while still expanding his responsibilities when needed, and the fit appears to be working.

Purdy may still feel like he has something to prove after missing most of 2025 with turf toe, but his play continues to support the idea that he can be excellent in Kyle Shanahan's offense. Against the Los Angeles Rams in Australia, he threw for 205 yards and three touchdowns, and he was especially dominant in the second half. The bigger picture for San Francisco is that Purdy has been at his best when the team around him is healthy. That stability matters, and it helps explain why he moved up in the rankings.

Trevor Lawrence also continued the strong finish he showed late in 2025 under first-year coach Liam Coen. In a 34-10 win over the Cleveland Browns, Lawrence went 18-of-23 for 245 yards and four touchdowns. He has flashed this kind of talent before, only to slide back for a variety of reasons. This time, though, his rise feels more permanent with Coen guiding the offense.

Not every quarterback had the same kind of opening-week success

Jordan Love had a rough outing in the Green Bay Packers' loss to the Minnesota Vikings, taking four sacks, getting hit 15 times, throwing an interception and losing a fumble. The Packers also committed 12 penalties, and a blown 22-10 lead made the collapse even worse.

Jayden Daniels was under heavy pressure in the Washington Commanders' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles and finished 18-of-34 for 164 yards and two touchdowns. The situation around him could get tougher with left tackle Laremy Tunsil out.

Justin Herbert also had a frustrating day in the Los Angeles Chargers' loss to the Arizona Cardinals, with turnovers, penalties and special teams mistakes piling up around him.

Drake Maye's three fourth-quarter interceptions against the Seattle Seahawks were described as inexcusable, even if the expectation is that the experience could help him down the line.

The Chiefs sent a clear message on Monday night: they are still very much a force.

In a 31-10 win over the Broncos, Kansas City looked like the version of itself that has dominated the AFC for years. Patrick Mahomes looked mobile and efficient after coming off an injury, Travis Kelce turned in a strong performance with 71 receiving yards, and Kenneth Walker III added a major new dimension to the offense with 173 rushing yards, a touchdown, and another score through the air.

The Broncos, meanwhile, struggled badly. Bo Nix had a rough night, and Denver's defense had no real answer for Kansas City's schemes. The result was a reminder that, even in a season full of new faces and fresh storylines, some things in the NFL still look familiar.
