Ubisoft have announced plans to roll out new entries in the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon franchises, all set to launch by the end of March 2029!

During their recent financial results announcement, Ubisoft revealed that they are gearing up for a much stronger and more varied content pipeline over the next couple of financial years - specifically 2027-28 and 2028-29. This means we can expect fresh adventures and possibly some innovative gameplay features in these beloved series.

The witchcraft-inspired Assassin's Creed Hexe will be among them; it's expected to launch sometime in 2027. A new Far Cry game is long overdue, after Far Cry 6 came out in 2021. And Ghost Recon hasn't seen a mainline release since 2019's Breakpoint.

Ubisoft considers Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon to be its biggest franchises, and while there's discussion of the performance of live service games such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, The Crew Motorfest, and For Honor, there was no mention of the eternally MIA Beyond Good and Evil 2, nor the Splinter Cell remake. Ubisoft did say it had cancelled seven projects in the last year and delayed six projects.

Warhorse Studios, the team behind the acclaimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has announced that they're working on not one, but two new projects. First up, they're diving into the iconic world of Middle-earth with a brand new The Lord of the Rings game.

Sony has officially confirmed it will stop producing physical game discs for all new PlayStation titles starting January 2028. The announcement comes as nearly 4 in 5 full game purchases on PS4 and PS5 are now digital, and follows Rockstar Games revealing GTA 6 will not have a traditional disc release either.

The timing is notable given PlayStation was the very console that helped popularize game discs back in 1994, making them the standard for the industry for over 30 years.
