Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, recently addressed the ongoing curiosity surrounding a potential sequel to the much-loved game, LA Noire. Originally launched 15 years ago, LA Noire has maintained a dedicated fanbase, and the interest in a follow-up has never truly faded.

Despite previous hints from Rockstar Games back in 2012 suggesting they wouldn't rule out the possibility of a sequel, fans are still left waiting. Zelnick's latest comments may add to that anticipation, as he mentioned, "there's nothing to announce" regarding an LA Noire sequel. This statement comes on the heels of Take-Two's acquisition of Team Bondi, the studio behind the original title.

However, Zelnick did note that "the teams are always looking at what we have," which leaves the door open for speculation about future projects involving the LA Noire franchise. While it seems we won't be seeing a sequel in the immediate future, the continued interest from both the players and the company indicates that LA Noire still holds a special place in the gaming world.

For fans of the series, this may be a time to reflect on what made LA Noire so unique – its innovative approach to storytelling, character development, and its immersive detective gameplay. As we await any further news, it's clear that the legacy of LA Noire continues to linger, and who knows what the future might hold?

The latest news confirms that the upcoming Call of Duty title, likely to be Modern Warfare 4, will not be available on last-generation consoles. This means that developers can fully unleash their creativity and technical capabilities without compromising on older hardware.

Recently, there was some chatter suggesting that playtests for the game were happening on the PlayStation 4, but it looks like that was just a rumour. The decision to skip last-gen consoles allows developers to focus on delivering a truly next-gen experience, which many fans have been hoping for.

What This Means for Players
  • Enhanced Graphics and Performance: With the power of modern consoles, we can expect stunning visuals and smoother gameplay.
  • Innovative Features: The developers can explore new gameplay mechanics that would be difficult to implement on older systems.
  • Stronger Community: A focus on current-gen consoles might create a more unified player base, fostering better matchmaking and community interaction.
This could usher in a new chapter for the franchise, and it certainly raises the stakes for the upcoming release. As we look forward to more details, it's clear that the shift away from last-gen consoles is a strategic move aimed at enhancing the overall player experience.

Hopefully better than 5. I wish they would bring back Fight Night - there is an obvious market for it.

Ubisoft have announced plans to roll out new entries in the Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon franchises, all set to launch by the end of March 2029!

During their recent financial results announcement, Ubisoft revealed that they are gearing up for a much stronger and more varied content pipeline over the next couple of financial years - specifically 2027-28 and 2028-29. This means we can expect fresh adventures and possibly some innovative gameplay features in these beloved series.

The witchcraft-inspired Assassin's Creed Hexe will be among them; it's expected to launch sometime in 2027. A new Far Cry game is long overdue, after Far Cry 6 came out in 2021. And Ghost Recon hasn't seen a mainline release since 2019's Breakpoint.

Ubisoft considers Assassin's Creed, Far Cry, and Ghost Recon to be its biggest franchises, and while there's discussion of the performance of live service games such as Rainbow Six Siege, The Division 2, The Crew Motorfest, and For Honor, there was no mention of the eternally MIA Beyond Good and Evil 2, nor the Splinter Cell remake. Ubisoft did say it had cancelled seven projects in the last year and delayed six projects.

Warhorse Studios, the team behind the acclaimed Kingdom Come: Deliverance, has announced that they're working on not one, but two new projects. First up, they're diving into the iconic world of Middle-earth with a brand new The Lord of the Rings game.

What We Know So Far
  • The LOTR game is set to be an open-world RPG. That sounds like a fantastic way to explore the rich landscapes and stories of Tolkien's universe.
  • Alongside this, they're also developing a new adventure in the Kingdom Come series, which I'm sure fans of the first game will be thrilled about.
Unfortunately, details are still quite sparse at the moment. We don't have much information about gameplay mechanics or release dates yet.

Sony has officially confirmed it will stop producing physical game discs for all new PlayStation titles starting January 2028. The announcement comes as nearly 4 in 5 full game purchases on PS4 and PS5 are now digital, and follows Rockstar Games revealing GTA 6 will not have a traditional disc release either.

The timing is notable given PlayStation was the very console that helped popularize game discs back in 1994, making them the standard for the industry for over 30 years.

EA SPORTS FC 27 has announced that Kylian Mbappé will be the cover athlete for its Ultimate Edition. This marks a return for the French superstar, who hasn't graced the cover of the franchise in four years.

His return to the cover comes after the transition from the FIFA branding to EA SPORTS FC, making this a special moment for both the player and the franchise.
