Control Resonant
After years in confinement at the hands of the Federal Bureau of Control (FBC), Dylan Faden emerges into a warped Manhattan at the peak of a para-natural crisis.

Charged with combating a mysterious cosmic entity as it alters fundamental aspects of our reality, Dylan must harness his newfound powers to take the fight to the myriad threats overwhelming Manhattan.

Join Dylan in this sequel to the multi-award-winning CONTROL to explore the expansive zones of a city overrun by the corrupting influences of the chaotic Hiss, invasive micro-organism, the Mold, and other twisted para-natural threats.

On the path to unlocking the full potential of his para-natural abilities, Dylan will also seek out his sister, FBC Director Jesse Faden, as he bids to comprehend and contain the dangers that have spilt beyond the confines of the Oldest House to tear our world apart.

STEP INTO A WARPED REALITY
Explore multiple areas of a ravaged Manhattan in an expansive, unfamiliar, and exciting world.

Traverse perception-bending locations and grapple with gravity anomalies that distort the vertical and horizontal planes, adding additional dimensions to puzzles and new tactical decisions to combat.

Meet faces old and new on a path fraught with risk but rich in opportunity as the cityscape is reshaped and reality is redefined by a godlike force.

Director Mikael Kasurinen recently shared some insights during an interview with MinMaxx. One of the standout revelations is that many of the game's toughest bosses, known as Resonants, are actually optional! This means players can choose whether to take them on or not, adding a layer of flexibility to the gameplay. You can even tackle these bosses out of order, reminiscent of the Mega Man series, where you can claim their powers for your own. How cool is that?

Also, the narrative direction of Control Resonant is shifting gears. Instead of focusing on rescuing Jesse or saving Manhattan, the story revolves around gaining "control over your life." This thematic twist promises to deepen the player's experience and engagement with the game.

Kasurinen also hinted at a significant surprise waiting for players at the midpoint of the game. Plus, the game's world is reportedly much larger than players might expect, although it may take some time to fully explore it.

Control Resonant is set to release on September 24th, despite competition from other titles.

Control Resonant has only been out for a day, but Remedy Entertainment is already lining up a few updates for the near future.

The first big addition is New Game++, which is set to arrive in October. Since the base game already includes New Game+, this new mode is described as a way to keep running through the game again and again. Remedy even joked, "Do 665 runs if you want!"

The studio says players will still need to unlock all the traversal abilities as before. The idea seems to be that this will make it easier to unlock other abilities from the same Resonant and use them together in one kit, even if they do not always synergise perfectly.

Photo Mode is also on the way, with a release planned for November. Remedy said it has been working on it for a while and consulted talented virtual photographers from the community to help make it as good as possible. The reason it was not included at launch was that the team wanted to focus on making sure the game shipped in the best possible state.

Beyond those two features, Remedy also says more cosmetics for Dylan are planned for future updates, though there is no release window for those yet.

Control Resonant is available on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC, and it appears to be off to a strong start with both critics and players. On Steam, it currently has a "Very Positive" rating based on 1,787 user reviews, with 87 percent recommending it. On Metacritic, it holds an 83 Metascore from 71 reviews, putting it in the "Generally Favourable" range.

Control Resonant has received a major update that adds the promised New Game++ mode and a range of bug fixes, quality-of-life changes and performance improvements.

Remedy said the 1.4.0 update also includes a Mute copyrighted music toggle, which silences a song during the opening credits sequence. The patch notes also refer to a separate issue in detail before ending with the line: "Despite everyone being dead."

One of the fixes addresses a bug in which fast-travel doors in the starting area would reset Dylan's custom outfit to the default postgame clothing.

The update also promises performance optimisations for low-end hardware and several interface changes aimed at making the game's upgrade systems clearer. Dylan's overall build power rating now appears on the main Loadout screen rather than only in the Stats & Effects submenu.

Players can also tag upgrade materials as priority finds, which will make them appear when highlighting vendor markers on the map.

The update follows a release-day patch that adjusted combat balance after criticism that enemies were too durable. Remedy has now added further tweaks, including a change that makes the forklift enemy easier to hit.
