In theory, gyms should be easier to manage than pubs. I'm sure most gyms could easily implement a system where you book an hours slot with, say, half an hour between slots for cleaning. It says a lot for us as a country that pubs seem to have taken priority over health and fitness.
We are very well equipped for some kind of block/rota booking based system and have plenty of space to move things around so I think we would be able to open at short notice and without much fuss - in fact, we've been ready for weeks.

I think it will be the end of July at the earliest. I hope I'm wrong but I think they might give us the go-ahead mid-July to prepare for a limited opening 2 weeks later.

Nicola Sturgeon has said Scotland is "not far away" from eliminating Covid-19 after no deaths from confirmed cases were reported in the past 24 hours. First time no deaths have been reported on a weekday since March 20th.

The current timetable for easing lockdown restrictions looks like this

29 June Most non-essential shops, many indoor workplaces, visitor attractions including zoos, outdoor sports courts and playgrounds
3 JulyFive mile travel distance relaxed, most self-catering holiday homes and second homes can be used
6 JulyOutdoor hospitality such as beer gardens can reopen
10 JulyPeople can meet in extended groups outdoors and with two other households indoors
13 JulyShopping centres can reopen, organised outdoor contact sports for children can resume, dentists can reopen for most routine care
15 JulyPubs, restaurants and all holiday accommodation can reopen, as can hairdressers, barbers, museums, cinemas, libraries and childcare

Most schools close today for the summer holidays so hopefully they will have some news soon about how they plan to allow children back into classrooms come the restart in August.

Well, it's been 17 days without an active case, here in my province. So, it looks like on Jul 3rd travelling between the four Atlantic provinces without self isolating is still ago. Must still keep 2m separation with people not in your bubble though.

Also, a little good news, Canada is almost self sufficient for creating our own PPE (sanitisers, N95 masks, gowns, and even ventilators) so if (when) the second wave hits we will be prepared, and no longer will we rely on China for PPE. Any surplus made in Canada will be shipped to hospitals in 3rd world countries (at least that is the plan, but who knows what Trump will try to do if we don't ship to them).

To be fair I don't think that many people thought we would be at this stage by now given the initial response to the crisis. I genuinely believe that England has moved out of lockdown too quickly and they will take longer to reduce the infection and death rates to the levels in Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland.

Quoting this from the Donald Trump thread
US Coronavirus death toll nears 125,000. Wow is all I can say tbh.

Do you think there is a possibility the EU is likely to put a travel ban in place for people coming in from the US?
At the moment there should be no international travel at all. All borders should remain closed until there is clear evidence of numbers subsiding dramatically. It's just asking to spark up again this. We went from 2 cases in York to 1000 deaths a day within around 8 weeks. Won't take much for this to kick off again. I'm all for relaxing rules in our own country but travel is what caused this explosion around the world in the first place.

I've recently decided to follow the "face mask whilst in a shop advice".

Anyone else doing this?

I know it's now mandatory on public transport but Nicola Sturgeon wants us wearing them in shops too.

Yesterday in Asda I saw only 3 other folks wearing them, 2 of them had them down around their neck (so completely useless). I was in the shop for a good wee while.

Anyone else using them?

Yes, I wear one when I'm out at the shops, running errands and sometimes when I'm out with the dogs. I haven't really seen many people wearing them around my way though.

No COVID-19 related deaths in Scotland for the 4th day in a row.

Can't really count on the figures at the weekend being reliable, we should get a better indicator tomorrow when the weekend figures have been collated but things are heading the right direction.

Shops with a street entrance and visitor attractions (parks, zoos etc) opened back up this morning too. I was in Dobbies earlier and there was definitely more people out and wearing masks. I'd also say older people are following the mask advice more.
