Yesterday was the first time I've saw a person in a shop without a mask on. Walking around the shop while talking and laughing on the phone.

I get that some folk don't need to wear masks, and I've no problem with that, but surely if you're not wearing a mask for health reasons you would attempt to minimise the amount of talking / laughing you'd be doing?

I'm seeing more and more people not wearing them. I went to the chippy yesterday and there was 6 people in, 4 of which didn't have face coverings. Looks like some people are chucking it already in the same way they chucked lockdown measures

Some folk are idiots.

I was in Tesco yesterday and every person was wearing a face covering. Same the last time I was there. Lots of people get that this is important and are happy to comply.

From experience, I'd say the % of people wearing face coverings in supermarkets is much higher than people in corner shops/takeaways. Observance in the latter is really quite low.

Plenty of masks worn at Asda the other day, but I was literally the only person wearing a mask when I popped into a nearby chippy. Staff included but given the heat, at points behind the counter, I can understand that. Any mask would likely end up wringing after a short time.

I've seen some anti-maskers argue on twitter that they're pointless as they only work if you are also keeping up hand hygiene

It's a bit like arguing seatbelts are unnecessary because we have airbags and brakes

It's interesting - one of the first articles I saw in the major press arguing for masks touched on this point. One argument against masks is that people don't keep up other measures but this argument has been used against almost all mandatory safety measures - car seat belts, drink driving laws, bike helmets - and there have been numerous studies done refuting it. People do not take more risks driving when they have a seatbelt on, for example.

22 new cases today. No deaths. Majority of these new cases in the last few days are in Lanarkshire.

No new deaths today in Scotland and only 1 in the last 15 days so things are looking positive.

Does anyone know offhand how worse off are the Scottish deaths per thousand compared to Northern Ireland and Wales? I know they are worse but by how much?

14-day quarantine imposed on travellers from Spain to England and Scotland. The Scottish government had the right idea when they refused to remove quarantine but then relented to constant pressure this week to remove quarantine and now re-imposes it
