Colombia do just enough to go through. Jamaica didn't start taking risks to go forward until the last few minutes and overall Colombia were the better team.

England play Colombia in the QF on Saturday. England need to play better than they did against Nigeria. Colombia will probably enjoy going back to the underdog role and are good enough defensively to frustrate England and maybe to catch them out going forward.

Spain are into the semi-finals after beating the Netherlands 2-1 after extra-time.

Good game. Final score more or less accurately reflected the balance across the entire game.

19 year old Salma Parraluelo scoring the winning goal to book Spain's spot in their first ever World Cup semi-final.

For the Dutch, Beerensteyn will rue missing those chances and Miedema is probably punching a wall somewhere.

Sweden will play Spain in the semis after beating Japan 2-1.

Japan didn't turn up until 2-0 down, as they showed how well they could play at times after that.

Credit to Sweden, they had a plan and it worked. They're a tough team, good on setpieces, good keeper.

Japan were totally outplayed for the first hour. Sweden dominated. Somewhat fortunate goals but tghey weren't against the run of play.

Disappointed in Japan. They were the best team in the tournament but didn't turn up today.

Australia will face England in the second semi-final.

The co-hosts overcoming France 7-6 in a penalty shootout to progress.

England came from behind to beat Colombia 2-1 thanks to goals from Hemp and Russo. It has been a right slog for England but they find themselves in the semis and have a great chance of adding the World Cup to their European success last year.

Spain have reached the Women's World Cup final for the first time in their history after a dramatic late win over Sweden.

Olga Carmona scored a stunning 89th minute winner after Rebecka Blomqvist's equaliser to break Swedish hearts and set up a final with co-hosts Australia or England.

Think Spain deserved to win that overall. Not a great first half of football with the two styles of football cancelling each other out. At least Spain were tryng to play football and didn't give the Swedes too many free kicks like they got against Japan in the quarters. Paralluelo really made a difference for Spain when she came on, a real talent they have there.
