Bayern Munich are progressing in their attempts to secure the return of Julian Nagelsmann as their head coach, according to reports in Germany.

Bayern are searching for a replacement for Thomas Tuchel, who is leaving at the end of the season, after the club lost their 11-grip on the Bundesliga title to Bayer Leverkusen.

Nagelsmann will take charge of Germany at their home Euros this summer but his contract expires after the tournament, meaning he could return to the Allianz Arena, where he spent less than two years in charge before being replaced by Tuchel last March

Nagelsmann is yet to agree a deal to return to Bayern but discussions have intensified over a three-year deal with the 36-year-old expected to take over at Bayern after Euro 2024.

Xavi will stay with Barcelona for another year after agreeing to finish his contract in 2025, in a reversal of his decision to quit at the end of the season.

Vice-president RafaYuste told Spanish reporters outside president Joan Laporta's home last night that they had reached the agreement following a meeting with Xavi and sporting director Deco over several hours on Wednesday.

"Xavi will stay, he's really happy and excited," Yuste said. "We've never opened talks for any other coach. Deco trusts Xavi, it's guaranteed".

He's a decent coach, but I don't think he can acquire any silverwear in the next couple of seasons, especially if with Real Madrid sign Mbappé.

Kylian Mbappe has confirmed he will leave Paris Saint-Germain at the end of the season.

The Frenchman is expected to join Real Madrid this summer.

The 25-year-old said in a video on social media: "I wanted to speak to you. I've always said that I would speak with you when the time comes, and so I wanted to announce to you all that it's my last year at Paris Saint-Germain. I will not extend and the adventure will come to an end in a few weeks."
