The consensus on Twitter is that (unsurprisingly) it's all about the revenue it brings in. Despite it being the 6/7th highest attended Grand Prix, it has relatively few grandstands.

Joke of a decision, I think most people would have Spa up there with the likes of Interlagos, Silverstone and Suzuka. Whatever about the French, but no Spa and German GPs next year show the direction Liberty are taking with F1. All the street circuits being added really are to the demise of actual racing.

Crazy, yes but not from a financial perspective. Spreading F1 worldwide is the game as money talks. Europe has an abundance of tracks in essence and fans can fairly easily travel to many of those. Bigger TV money and new tracks - Vegas for example - are key to F1's expansion and development.

Having 3 weeks between a few races should be cut, that might be an option and allow for the season to start and finish within their timeframe.

Cost cap to rise by 3% due to inflation

Following a vote at an F1 Commission meeting in Austria, it has been agreed that the cost cap will rise in 2022.

Many teams - namely Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes - had been calling for an increase in the spending limit due to rising global inflation.

A limited increase of 3.1% on the $140m cost cap has been agreed upon. The FIA say this will "preserve the long-term integrity of the Financial Regulations".

What a bizarre move. All the news has always been that Alpine love Alonso and all the help he gives them, he's been in good form this season and then he randomly takes a gigantic step backwards. Surely the move is to get rid of Ocon.

Red Bull - Verstappen and Perez
Ferrari - Le Clerc and Sainz
Merc - Hamilton and Russell
Alpine - Ocan and Piastri
Aston - Alonso and Stoll
McLaren - Norris and Potentially Ricciardo
Alfa Romeo - Bottas and TBC
Alpha Tauri - Gasly and TBC
Haas - Magnussen and TBC
Williams - TBC and TBC

My gut feeling is that now Aston has gone for Alonso, Ricciardo stays at McLaren for a year as nobody else will match his wages

Zhou probably brings enough advertising to keep his seat

Schumacher could possibly move - Alfa Tauri might be the only real step up he can make this year.

Tsunoda has probably done enough to get a seat somewhere - Williams? - probably alongside Latifi given the money he brings to the table

All this leaves the last seat at Haas - perhaps they will give Fittipaldi a chance?

Certainly does not look like there will be much major movement this year

"I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year. This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year".

Amateur stuff from Alpine. Bizarre to announce this if he hasn't been consulted or agreed to it.
