Daniel Ricciardo will replace Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri until the end of the season.

You have to feel for De Vries getting the boot after 6 months. Alpha Tauri doesn't have anything to lose, things couldn't get any worse.

Might work out good for Yuki to have a proper experienced driver on the team

Tough on DeVries. He hasn't been great but the car is dreadful.

Interesting to see how Ricciardo gets on with Yuki, though. Hopefully he's more suited to this car!

Logan Sargeant is a crap driver. He could have avoided that crash. How does Liam Lawson not have a drive for next season but Sargeant does? F1 is bizarre.

No way will Sargeant keep that seat for next season.

Surprised Lawson is only reserve as Ricciardo has hardly shone lately, I'd have had it the other way round.

Maybe Williams will come to an agreement with Red Bull to allow Lawson to replace Sargeant.

Andretti bid to become 11th F! team approved by FIA.

Andretti have been given the green light to enter Formula 1 as a new 11th team by the FIA, but now await approval from F1's owners.

The US-based Andretti team's bid to enter Formula 1 with General Motors' Cadillac brand has been approved by motorsport's governing body, the FIA.

Andretti Formula Racing were the only team approved by the FIA out of four candidates who made it to the second phase of the new teams process.

All others were deemed not to have met the required criteria.

Andretti-Cadillac's bid will now be assessed by rights holders Formula 1 on a commercial basis.

F1 will only admit Andretti if it considers their entry to add value to the championship as a whole.

There is no defined period for this assessment to take place, and it is likely to last some months. F1 is widely expected to reject Andretti's bid.

A statement from the FIA said each application was assessed based on sporting, technical and financial analysis.

President Mohammed Ben Sulayem said: "The FIA was very clear in establishing stringent criteria for entry from the outset of the expressions of interest procedure.

"Our objective, after rigorous due diligence during the application phase, was to only approve prospective entries which satisfied the set criteria and illustrated that they would add value to the sport.

"The FIA is obliged to approve applications that comply with the expressions of interests application requirements and we have adhered to that procedure in deciding that Andretti Formula Racing LLC's application would proceed to the next stage of the application process.

"Andretti Formula Racing LLC was the only entity which fulfils the selection criteria that was set in all material respects."

Andretti only successful because they teams up with Chevrolet as their engine manufactuer. F1 doesn't want more teams like Haas, it wants more manufactuer teams like Audi.

Rodin Cars was interesting. Well represented in the junior formula, have their own race track and the idea of a woman driver having one of the seats was refreshing.

Shame they didn't or couldn't go down the route of trying to get Toyota or Hyundai or someone else in the southern hemisphere as their engine manufacturer, it would have improved their case.

Also maybe the F1 talent that's European based might have been up for relocating to New Zealand. After all it's a lovely place to live, apparently.
