Initial excitement surrounded Forza Motorsport's launch with players eager about the return of the franchise. The introduction of over 500 cars and a variety of tracks, including many classics, generated buzz within the community, as glimpsed in early gameplay footage and track reveals. Some players expressed optimism about the new campaign features and racing mechanics, citing high expectations for a polished experience.12

As discussions progressed, feedback shifted dramatically. Reports emerged of significant bugs, particularly related to the upgrade system, causing frustration among players. Issues like crashing during gameplay and lost career progress were voiced, leading to mixed reactions where anticipation turned into disappointment for some as they struggled with core gameplay functionalities.34

However, many users still voiced skepticism regarding the effectiveness of these updates, leaving the community in a stage of cautious optimism as new patch notes circulated and discussions about future enhancements continued to unfold.56

"The upgrade system is absolutely awful."

Verdict

Overall, while Forza Motorsport launched with significant enthusiasm, post-launch feedback reveals substantial issues that still need resolution. Many players are left hopeful for improvements but frustrated by current technical challenges.

Looking forward to this one. Been a while since we had a Forza Motorsport title.

Out on the 10th of October for Xbox Series S, Series X and PC.

The game contains 500+ cars and 20 tracks.

The Builders Cup sounds interesting. I'd like a good campaign.

We also have a new track reveal

Disappointed with my first play.

I think going to give up on this until they address some issues. Mainly for the upgrade system which is absolutely awful. All the car upgrades are locked behind different levels so you've to grind nearly 3 hours for each individual car to unlock all the upgrades and the car level doesn't transfer if you buy another of the same car. You've to earn points to purchase the upgrades rather than using credits, it's an absolutely awful system and ruins the main attraction for Forza which is building a car. Track list is pretty bad too, it feels very much like a completely bare base game and they'll slowly introduce content along the way.

Career is very short and you can't even use any race cars in it because it's a "built not bought" style of races. Not being able to skip practice is infuriating having to do a 3 lap practice before every race which makes it pretty tedious.

I don't really play multiplayer but gave it a go and there are spawning cars at your crash into as they spawn right on to your driving line. Doesn't feel like a finished product.

There does seem to be some big bugs.

A thread on the official Forza Motorsport forum is filled with frustrated players reporting a serious bug causing career progress to be lost.

Some players report getting stuck on a loading screen on PC and Xbox Series X after upgrading or buying a new car. Career progress is then lost when returning to the game after restarting.

"Every time you upgrade a car or purchase a new car, there is a chance the game will enter an infinite loading screen, and there is no error handling or timeout. The game will just hang there indefinitely. And you are forced to restart the game, which will cause you to lose your career progress," a frustrated player wrote on Reddit.

Even worse, some players report that the bug corrupts the save file, essentially rendering the game unplayable.

"Once this happens, you will not be able to progress in the game because the saves are now desynced or corrupted (in case you didn't know, and they didn't say - this game is always online and your saves are on the cloud)."

"There is no way to delete your save so when this bug happens, you are pretty much stuck. This is a severe bug, and it is very frustrating. I don't know how the game can be released in its current state."

Recommended settings for both controller and steering wheel...

Best Forza Motorsport controller settings

To finetune the controller settings, go to Advanced Controller Settings in the settings menu. The main setting you'll want to adjust is deadzone. Every input such as steering, acceleration, and braking has an inside and outside deadzone.

After applying the changes, it's worth testing them in Free Play and finetuning them accordingly.
  • Steering Axis Deadzone Inside: 5
  • Steering Axis Deadzone Outside: 95
  • Acceleration Axis Deadzone Inside: 0
  • Acceleration Axis Deadzone Outside: 98
  • Deceleration Axis Deadzone Inside: 2
  • Deceleration Axis Deadzone Outside: 98
  • Clutch Axis Deadzone Inside: 0
  • Clutch Axis Deadzone Outside: 100
  • Handbrake Axis Deadzone Inside: 0
  • Handbrake Axis Deadzone Outside: 100
  • Vibration Scale: 60
  • Automatic Steering Alignment: 100
Turn 10 recommends using default settings when first starting up Forza Motorsport, but you'll find the game feels more suited to controller players. This is an odd decision for a sim racing title, but thankfully there is a way to make the game more responsive when using a wheel.

Best Forza Motorsport wheel settings

These settings should help you but if you do find some work better than others, some more adjustments may be needed to match your particular driving style.
  • Vibration Scale: 100
  • Force Feedback Scale: 70
  • Mechanical Trail Scale: 150
  • Pnuematic Trail Scale: 100
  • Road Feel Scale: 110
  • Load Sensitivity: 50
  • Wheel Damping Scale: 20
  • Centre Spring Scale: 0
  • Dynamic Damper Behaviour: 20

Tom

Smart resume is fairly broken for his. Anytime I try it the game usually crashes pretty quickly and needs to be fully restarted.

Going to try those controller settings and see if it improves the gameplay.

Yep same for me. I've even had to redo a race, I must have shutdown before a save position.

Now I quit the game fully when finished. It's a problem in general with quick resume for most games but this is particularly bad. Poor coming from an Xbox game. Although they do usually get it fixed with a patch.

But I do love quick resume, when it works. It's such a huge differentiating factor between xbox and PC.

Yes, I don't think they even addressed the "Applying Upgrades" bug yet which crashes the game. It's not really worth playing until that is fixed.
