Initial excitement surrounded Forza Motorsport's launch with players eager about the return of the franchise. The introduction of over 500 cars and a variety of tracks, including many classics, generated buzz within the community, as glimpsed in early gameplay footage and track reveals. Some players expressed optimism about the new campaign features and racing mechanics, citing high expectations for a polished experience.12

As discussions progressed, feedback shifted dramatically. Reports emerged of significant bugs, particularly related to the upgrade system, causing frustration among players. Issues like crashing during gameplay and lost career progress were voiced, leading to mixed reactions where anticipation turned into disappointment for some as they struggled with core gameplay functionalities.34

Subsequent updates aimed to address the concerns raised, with players hopeful that Turn 10 would prioritize stability fixes. However, many users still voiced skepticism regarding the effectiveness of these updates, leaving the community in a stage of cautious optimism as new patch notes circulated and discussions about future enhancements continued to unfold.56

Looking forward to this one. Been a while since we had a Forza Motorsport title.

Out on the 10th of October for Xbox Series S, Series X and PC.

The game contains 500+ cars and 20 tracks.

The Builders Cup sounds interesting. I'd like a good campaign.

We also have a new track reveal

The monthly content updates keep on coming, with a fifth new track — Brands Hatch — Brands Hatch arriving alongside the Retro Racers Tour in Forza Motorsport Update 7. Download today!

One of the UK's best-known racing venues, Brands Hatch has staged pretty much every event possible across its 75-year history. Its flagship four-wheeled events these days are the British GT Championship, the British Touring Car Championship, and the GT World Challenge Europe.

The full course cuts a challenging, 2.4-mile ribbon through the Kent countryside, with some spectacular elevation changes — perhaps most notably at the first turn of Paddock Hill — and nine corners, although very few parts of the track are actually straight. There's also an Indy circuit which is just 1.2 miles long and pretty relentless, not least because the whole course is within a natural amphitheater.

Game Improvements and Release Notes

Update 7 reduces the installation footprint of Forza Motorsport by around 15-20%, decreasing its file size by 25GB on Xbox Series X|S and 29GB on PC. To accommodate this optimization, today's update will be slightly larger than usual at 15GB.

Update 7 also introduces new experience improvements to the game, including changes to Forza Race Regulations and Proximity Arrows, as well as fixes to Multiplayer and the Livery Editor, and Le Mans track.

Turn 10's latest "Nemesis" update has officially been revealed and is set to roll out for Xbox and PC players this evening.

What was originally planned to be a two-phase update, for reasons unknown, has been pushed through as a single update as Turn 10 was able to correct the issues that would have otherwise affected it.

Forza Motorsport Update 10: General Game Updates

Following the pattern of previous even-numbered updates, Update 10 does not feature a new or returning circuit but brings forward more features and changes.

One of the most requested features to be added is the Car Proximity Radar. This new HUD element will allow players to see if cars come into their blind spots to help keep racing clean in multiplayer. Players will also have the option to pick where they want the radar to be shown on their screen.

Replays get an overhaul with the addition of an updated user interface, a new vertical driver list, a new track map, and new HUD visibility options. There are further upgrades planned which include new camera types.

One criticism made to date has been a lack of aero customization options. T10 has begun to address this by adding the aero wing from Big Country Labs to a selection of 18 cars. These new wings can be added immediately as they are unlocked at Car Level 1.

A major change to the multiplayer series is that Forza GT sees the class split into GT2 and GT3 series. T10 has also confirmed a separate GT4 class will be implemented in Update 11. This change only affects groupings in multiplayer and all Forza GT cars will continue to be under the same class in single-player.

Forza Motorsport Update 10: New Cars

In keeping with the update theme of rivalries, several pairs and one triple serving of Spotlight cars will be made available over the next few weeks and can be purchased for a 30% discount with in-game credits. They will also be a core part of the new featured tour that we will be covering later. Players with VIP can also receive a 15% discount on a select number of cars throughout the latest update.

Spotlight Cars
  • Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III GSR 1995, Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2005 – July 10-17
  • Ferrari 312 T2 #1 Scuderia Ferrari 1976, McLaren M23 #11 Team McLaren 1976 – July 17-24

  • Ford Mustang Shelby GT350R 2016, Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 2017 – August 7-14
VIP Discount Cars

  • BMW M3 2005 – July 10-17
  • Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2015 – July 17-24
  • Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 2020 – July 24-31
  • Mercedes-AMG One 2021 – July 31 – August 7
  • Ford Mustang GT 2018 – August 7 -14
The only significant Spotlight Car addition in Update 10 comes in the form of the 1995 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution III finally making its debut in the Forza series.

As its name suggests, the third-generation Evo builds on the success of the previous generations while enhancing its rallying pedigree. Using a tweaked version of the CE9A platform from the Evo II, the Evo III comes with more aggressive styling to improve cooling and reduce lift. The hallmark 2.0-liter turbocharged engine gains a boost in power to make 270hp.

Forza Motorsport Update 10: New Events

The Nemesis Tour for this month takes you through some of the most famous (or infamous) rivalries that shaped the racing and automotive landscape, with the Spotlight cars as the main contenders.

Nemesis Tour
  • Rally Rivals – Mitsubishi Lancer Evo III, Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2005
  • Grand Prix Grudge – Ferrari 312 T2, McLaren M23
  • Hybrid Holy Trinity – McLaren P1, Porsche 918 Spyder, Ferrari LaFerrari
  • Endurance Legends – Ford GT40 Mk II, Ferrari 330 P4
For each four race series, you'll need to pick a side for each of these head to head matches, ranging from rally homologations to Le Mans legends.

Finish all the races in this tour and your reward will be the 1998 Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR AMG for use in the final reward showcase.

The Nemesis Tour started on July 10 with Rally Rivals, with the following series set to be unlocked after seven days each. You'll have until August 28 to complete the tour so there won't be a need to rush.

Open Class Tour

The Open Tour undergoes another major change, with the number of races in each series being cut from four down to three. There are also a wider range of classes to run in from D Class up to R Class.

Complete this tour and you'll receive a 2008 Lamborghini Reventon as your prize to drive in the final showcase. This tour runs until August 14, so you'll need to keep a closer eye on your schedule for this one.

Forza Motorsport Update 10: Multiplayer Events

Featured Multiplayer gets even busier with rival-based Spec Series alongside weekly rotations of the new Forza GT2 and GT3 classes. The Spotlight cars will also get their own multiplayer events in the Spotlight series , which will each be available for seven day periods.

Vintage Le Mans Prototypes and the Mustang Shelby GT500 series also make their return to the event calendar.
  • German Rivals + Forza GT2 – July 10-17
  • Rally Rivals + Forza GT3 – July 17-24
  • Mustang Shelby GT500 Spec Series + Forza GT2 – July 24-31
  • Hybrid Holy Trinity + Forza GT3 – July 31-August 7
  • Vintage Le Mans Prototypes + Forza GT2 – August 7-14
Forza Motorsport Update 10: Rivals

The latest events for Rivals will see each set of Spotlight cars gain their own events that will each be available for seven days. To fill in the gap of having no new track, the Spec Division event will have you pushing your favorite Forza GT2 car to the limit around Spa-Francorchamps.

VIP players can test themselves in their own event featuring the 2011 Subaru Impreza STI at the fast and technical Suzuka.

A trio of special events also feature, kicking off with the first qualifying round for return of the latest Logitech G Challenge. Here, you'll be put into the McLaren 620R around the Nurburgring GP.

Gillette is also running a special event as part of its P1 program. You'll be driving a 2018 Porsche 718 Cayman GTS in order to set your fastest time around Grand Oak Raceway.

Mobil 1's Pro Driver event puts you into a 1969 Ford Mustang Boss 302 around Maple Valley, with the task of attempting to beat former NASCAR champion Tony Stewart. The target to aim for is a 1:57.453.

The Update 10 Rivals list is below:
  • Spec Division – Forza GT2 – Spa-Francorchamps (Jul. 10 – Aug. 14)
  • VIP – Suzuka Scramble – Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2011 – Suzuka Circuit – Full Circuit (Jul. 10 – Aug. 14)

Forza Motorsport Update 10: Other Changes

Along with updates to car class groupings and replays, there are more changes and improvements in several areas.

Catalunya and Hockenheim receive fixes in regards to object pop-ins, collisions, and graphical issues.

More changes to PC optimisation come in the form of increased accuracy in the VRAM estimator. Players with GPUs with low VRAM are set to benefit from these changes to improve performance. You can also now disable TAA in the graphics settings if you prefer to use your own levels of anti-aliasing.

Some major updates includes fixing gear shift times that would vary based on PC framerate, and fixing a bug allowing players with poor PC performance to gain advantages over other players.

Drivatar AI gets tweaked further to improve pit lane merging on entry and exit, as well as reducing times cars would go off track when alongside players.

Various causes for game crashes have also been addressed in Multiplayer and in the Livery Editor.

Update 10 will run over the next five weeks, with T10 confirming that the next new track will appear in Update 11 sometime in mid-August.

The full list of patch notes can be found here.

Game Improvements and Release Notes

Forza Motorsport Update 12 rolls out for download starting Monday, September 9 on Xbox Series X|S and PC via the Microsoft Store and Steam. Spotlight cars and new in-game events will begin on Wednesday, September 11 starting at 5:00 PM PT (12:00 AM UTC on Thursday, September 12).

Update 12 celebrates a new partnership with Jordan. Race the custom 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Edition in the Jordan Luka 3 Motorsport Series and complete its 5 events to win a Jordan Luka 3 Racing Suit.

In addition to the cars and events, we have some exciting features coming with this update: Spectate Mode in Private Multiplayer, Challenge Hub, Forza Race Regulations AI upgrades, and customizable weather options in Free Play and Private Multiplayer.

Challenge Hub

Whether you prefer to race in Career, compete in Featured Multiplayer, or outpace your Rivals, the all-new Challenge Hub presents special objectives and rewards for every player, and you can now earn reward cars in either Career or Featured Multiplayer.

Forza Race Regulations (FRR) Penalty System

Update 12 advances the FRR incident data capture system used to train the AI machine learning model for penalty system accuracy. Data reported after a collision now includes many additional metrics to determine fault and severity, measuring a 300% increase in captured information. Update 12 also includes general improvements to FRR accuracy.

Spectate Mode in Private Multiplayer

Spectate live Private Multiplayer races with new community requested features. Enjoy the race from start to podium and save a replay at the end. Includes a customizable HUD with dynamic Driver List, Track Map, race data Ticker and Driver Data panel with race telemetry. Capture race action from new angles with a controllable Rail Cam and stationary Point of Interest cameras, also available in Replay.

New Weather Options

Additional weather options have been added to Free Play and Private Multiplayer. Set the Start, Mid-Race, and End Race weather types and adjust their probability percentage. Selecting Variable Dry or Variable Wet in the Private Multiplayer or Free Play Advanced event setup menus will expose these new options.

Version Number:
  • Xbox Series X|S: 1.660.6389.0
  • PC (Microsoft Store): 1.660.6389.0
  • Steam: 1.660.6389.0
Spectate Mode

Spectate is now available in Private Multiplayer, making it easier for league admins to view and broadcast their official events. This initial version builds upon our previous efforts and includes new features and improvements that have been requested by the community, particularly by tournament and league organizers.

Here's a look at some of the highlights you can expect when using Spectate to watch or broadcast community races in Private Multiplayer. As Spectate is essentially like a live replay, many of the features and options outlined below are already available as part of our recent update for saved race replays.
  • Full-Field Dynamic Driver List and Lap Counter – Greatly increases race comprehension, making it easy to select a car to focus on from the driver list. Positions are updated based on scoring type.
  • Ticker – A dynamic data loop in the Driver List. This can also be locked to show the leader's time, race intervals, position changes, penalty time, or pit stops.
  • Track Map – Shows all the locations of all the cars on the track map with the ability to zoom and view exact positioning more closely.
  • Driver Data – Choose to see a race summary of the driver in focus, including car telemetry, comparison to the leader, and damage.
  • True Race Start / Race End from 3-2-1 to Podium. In Forza Motorsport 7, the live feed in Spectate didn't begin until several seconds after the race had started, which meant viewers missed much of the Turn 1 excitement. It also ended abruptly when the leader crossed the finish line. In Forza Motorsport, a spectator can watch the entire race from the moment it starts right up until either the final driver crosses the finish line, or the race timer concludes.
  • Default Spectate Camera – The first time you use Spectate mode, you can decide which camera to use by default at race start. This can be changed at any time in the settings menu under Gameplay & HUD.
  • New Camera Options – In addition to all the prior cameras available in game, two new camera modes have been added to both Spectate Mode and Race Replays:
    • Rail Cam – This gives race spectators controls that our cinematics team uses, like FPS camera controls that move with the focus car. The left stick moves the camera forward or backward, left or right around the focus car. Use the right stick to change the camera target left and right or move the camera up and down.
    • Point of Interest – Stationary cameras focusing on important track segments. Each track has at least 3 points of interest with more available on longer tracks.
  • Improved Control Panel for much easier access to Spectate and Replay tools.
  • Customizable HUD – The Spectate and Replay HUD elements are customizable to show as much or as little as you want. This gives you the freedom to prioritize between either a clean camera feed or a detailed, more informative interface.
  • Minimized Switch Lag – Changing the camera view or car to focus on is much faster than it was in Forza Motorsport 7.
  • Saving Replay after Spectate – You can save a replay from the Spectate post-race menu to view later. Please note that previous limitations for replay save length still apply and will vary based on factors such as the number of cars on track and the race duration.
Weather Options

Additional weather options have been added to Free Play and Private Multiplayer. Set the Start, Mid-Race, and End Race weather types and adjust their probability percentage:
  • Partly Cloudy
  • Overcast
  • Cloudy
  • Looming Clouds
  • Thunderclouds
  • Lightning Clouds
  • Patchy Fog
  • Thin Fog
  • Dense Fog
  • Summer Drizzle
  • Drizzle
  • Light Rain
  • Moderate Rain
  • Heavy Rain
  • Rain Thunder
  • Rain Lightning
Selecting Variable Dry or Variable Wet in the Private Multiplayer or Free Play Advanced event setup menus will expose these new options.

The November update will bring the world of NASCAR to Xbox's flagship racer.

Dubbed 'next-gen NASCAR' in the trailer up above, Turn 10 Studios is adding three NASCAR vehicles, a new career tour themed around the motorsport, track updates to Homestead-Miami Speedway, a featured NASCAR multiplayer series and more in Update 14.

"Experience 2024 Next Gen NASCAR in Forza Motorsport's latest update, American Thunder! Race wheel-to-wheel with the 2024 Chevrolet NASCAR Next Gen Camaro ZL1, 2024 Ford NASCAR Next Gen Mustang Dark Horse and 2024 Toyota NASCAR Next Gen Camry XSE."

The remainder of Update 14's changes aren't strictly NASCAR-themed either - we've got visual improvements, tweaked Drivatar AI, 'advanced ghosting' in multiplayer and a bunch of smaller changes and updates as Forza Motorsport blasts past the one-year mark on Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Below is a snapshot of the fixes and improvements included with Update 14.
  • The global reflection probe for the track is now captured at the camera location and includes the track itself. This allows reflections to appear more accurate and prevents visual pops in the reflections by smoothly fading over time.
  • Fixed an issue on Mugello and other tracks where hitting curbs could cause sporadic, uncontrollable spins. This would occasionally occur when one or more tires rapidly accelerated or decelerated while unloaded during cornering. While curbs can naturally affect car balance, this fix ensures more predictable handling in these scenarios. As in real life, drivers should still approach curbs with caution, as they can disrupt vehicle stability.
  • Fixed an issue where the game will sometimes crash when attempting to reset Free Play Setup settings to default after changing the Game Type to Multi-Class.
  • Improved performance when navigating between Vinyl Groups and Liveries menu.
  • Fixed an issue where a car's upgrades would also be reset if the player reset its tuning.
  • Fixed an issue where the mini leaderboard wasn't sorting players correctly in Drift events.
  • Fixed an issue where existing UGC could not be overwritten in Save Livery, Tuning, or Photo menus.
  • Added a 'Sort by Overall' / 'Sort by Group' button to Event Results for Multi-Class Races allowing players to compare how they did against the overall driver list.
  • Fixed a bug where tire wear was not correctly affecting grip of Drivatar AI opponents in races.
  • Improved Drivatar AI pitting logic, especially in Endurance Races.
  • Adjusted track wall friction on Eaglerock Speedway, Daytona, Homestead, and Indianapolis to more accurately reflect physical material properties.
  • Autosaved tunes no longer apply to a player's tune save limit.
Developers Note: Autosaved tunes still appear in the game menus, however they do not impact your tune save limit, which is currently 450 tunes. We are actively working on increasing save limits for a future release.

Gameplay Adjustments to Support NASCAR

November is NASCAR month! To celebrate, we've made global changes in both Updates 13 and 14 to improve the racing experience across the game, and to make oval racing especially shine:
  • Tuned Drivatar AI on Ovals to have cleaner race starts, transition more smoothly after race start, and to trail more effectively.
  • Tuned car-to-car collision response for more physically accurate energy dissipation. This reduces the impact of small collisions and allows for more stability and control.
  • Downforce reduction for lead cars when drafting was reduced to make it easier to maintain position. (Update 13)
  • Improved Drivatar AI trailing ability especially in braking zones, making Drivatars less prone to rear ending other cars. (Update 13)
  • Updated the multi-car aero model to reduce downforce impact on leading cars, widen the aero wake near the car, smooth transitions near wake edges and reduce drafting induced aero balance changes. (Update 13)
  • Additionally, we've added support for rolling starts in Featured Multiplayer. Rolling starts will be enabled for all events in the NASCAR Series in Featured Multiplayer in Update 14. Rolling starts will be added to additional events, where appropriate, starting in Update 15.
This update also refreshes Homestead-Miami Speedway track layouts with new NASCAR branding.

Forza Race Regulations

With Update 14, we've pushed a new Forza Race Regulations model with a slight reduction to false positive penalty assignments, and an improvement to severity assignment.

Advanced Ghosting in Multiplayer

Advanced Ghosting is a support mechanism for Multiplayer and Forza Race Regulations to help prevent some key collision or off-track situations from adversely affecting the online racing experience. Players will be ghosted in the following scenarios:
  • Predicted high relative velocity collisions: when an imminent collision between two cars is detected while driving above the speed threshold, the car with the higher velocity will be ghosted. This does not include low-relative velocity collisions like small fender bumps.
  • Returning to track: when a car goes off track, they will be ghosted to prevent collisions caused by unsafe re-entry until they have returned to track and reached a minimum speed threshold.
  • Stopped on track or driving below a speed threshold: cars that are driving too slowly or are entirely stopped and blocking traffic will be ghosted to prevent risk to other cars.
  • Driving the wrong way on track: cars driving the wrong direction on track will be ghosted until they are driving in the correct direction and meeting a minimum speed threshold. This is an existing behaviour but has been expanded to include cars at extreme angles relative to track direction and speed.
Experientially, our goal was to use this system to safeguard against egregious collision and griefing behavior, while preserving the physical authenticity of racing where bumping and touching may occur when fighting for position.

In May, Microsoft's Forza series will turn 20 years old, and Team Xbox has some big anniversary plans for 2023's Forza Motorsport as a result. Turn 10 Studios has announced that as part of the game's 20th anniversary update, Forza Motorsport 4's "legendary" Fujimi Kaido track will make its grand return in the latest title.

Fujimi Kaido, a fictional Japanese track that's stuck in the memory of longtime Forza fans for years, has been "fully recreated to modern standards in our biggest track project ever", says the team. Turn 10 adds that it "can't wait for you to slide sideways once again" as the dev "works to refine and polish this Forza original track for integration into the game this May".

"Since the release of Forza Motorsport in October 2023, our team has been fully recreating Fujimi Kaido to modern standards in our biggest track project ever! Race and drift on the Full Circuit or Full Circuit Reverse that stretches 10.24 miles in length featuring 144 extreme turns and a 2,711-foot summit.

Our goal is to recapture the magic of drifting with your friends on the massive stretches of serpentine Japanese mountain roads at Fujimi Kaido, and we can't wait for you to slide sideways once again as we now work to refine and polish this Forza original track for integration into the game this May."

The Xbox studio goes on to say that the addition of Fujimi Kaido "is only the start of our upcoming anniversary content" and that "some highly requested cars, unlockable driver suits, special events in both Career and Featured Multiplayer, new themed Rivals challenges, and more" will come to Forza Motorsport in May 2025.

You can expect to hear more about this big anniversary update, alongside footage of the returning FM4 track, "as we approach the release of the update" in the coming weeks.
