Vic Fangio leaving the Dolphins. Just when he seemed to be getting a decent defense there too.
The Miami Dolphins and defensive coordinator Vic Fangio have mutually agreed to part ways, the team announced Wednesday.
"I want to thank Vic for his contributions in 2023," Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said. "When we assessed the season, it became apparent that this was the best path forward for all parties involved. Now, we turn our focus to 2024 and beyond with urgency as we identify the best candidate to lead our defense moving forward. We remain steadfastly committed to the development of our players and to building a winning team with sustained success."
Fangio spent one year as Miami's defensive coordinator this season after three years as the head coach of the Denver Broncos from 2019 to 2021. The Dolphins went 11-6 during the regular season before losing 26-7 to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC wild-card game on Jan. 13.
