Carnage to get below the cap continues as the Chiefs cut both of their starting tackles.

Harsh on them coming off injuries but just another example of the NFL being a business. Chiefs now have 2 huge holes, plus backups to fill, and are still just over the cap.

Cam Newton is returning to the Patriots for another season.

On Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes is expected to restructure his contract. According to Schefter, the Chiefs will convert Mahomes' $21.7 million roster bonus to a signing bonus, which would save Kansas City $17 million against the cap.

Coming just moments after Drew Brees announced his retirement, Taysom Hill and the Saints have agreed to a contract restructure, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The restructure is a four-year, $140 million extension. All years are voidable, as the deal frees up $7.5 million in cap space. Hill's contract numbers include a $9.686 million signing bonus, a $1.439 million guaranteed roster bonus and $1.034 million guaranteed base salary plus incentives, per Schefter.

In layman's terms, Hill and the Saints agreed to a one-year, $12.159 million restructured contract with four voidable years to spread out a $9.6 million signing bonus, per Spotrac's Michael Ginnitti. The new deal carries an $8.4 million cap hit, giving the Saints nearly $7.5 million in cap space.

Aaron Jones and the Packers have come to terms on a four-year, $48 million that includes a $13 million signing bonus. The two sides reached an agreement three days before Jones would have entered free agency.

"Aaron would have signed for more in free agency but wanted to stay in Green Bay," Jones' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said of his client. The Packers declined to franchise tag Jones but were able to sign him to a new deal before the start of free agency.

Jones' market value was estimated at four years for $14.6 million per year. The 2021 reduced salary cap, would have likely impacted Jones' offers on the open market. This year's salary cap is $182.5 million, about a $15 million drop from what it was expected to be pre-COVID.

The Vikings have agreed to a two-year contract with free-agent defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, who started every game in his four seasons with the Giants.

Tomlinson, 27, had 3.5 sacks in each of the last two seasons for New York, and his deal with Minnesota will reportedly pay $22 million. He's been consistent and productive, with at least 49 tackles in each of his four seasons.

Call them the Washington Fitzmagic Team.

Washington added another quarterback for 2021, signing veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick to a one-year deal reportedly worth $10 million.

It's the ninth NFL team for the well-traveled 38-year-old, who had the second-best quarterback rating of his 16-year career in 2020, throwing for 13 touchdowns and 2,091 yards for the Dolphins.

Fitzpatrick will compete with Taylor Heinicke, who stepped in as a starter in the playoffs, as well as veteran Kyle Allen, who was briefly the starter last year. The money given to Fitzpatrick suggests he'll have a good chance to be the starter as a one-year stopgap for Washington.

The Bengals finished last in the NFL with just 17 sacks last season, and new signee Trey Hendrickson had 13.5 all by himself in a breakout year with the Saints.

Hendrickson, 26, was part of a lucrative day for NFL pass-rushers, agreeing to terms on a four-year deal reportedly worth $60 million

The Titans had just 19 sacks in 2020, the third-lowest total in the league, but they took a major step toward improving that Monday, agreeing to terms with free-agent pass-rusher Bud Dupree on a three-year deal reportedly worth $49.5 million.

Dupree, 28, had eight sacks in 11 games last year, after getting a career-best 11.5 sacks with four forced fumbles in 2019. His season ended in December with a torn ACL.
