With tender chunks of crispy chicken and veggies stir-fried to perfection with garlic, ginger, and peppercorns (preferably Sichuan), and then coated in a spicy sweet sauce, this dish is bursting with flavour!

Don't let the list of ingredients intimidate you! Authentic Chinese ingredients are actually quite easy to find at your local Asian market/deli and this dish takes just 30 minutes to make.

What are Sichuan Peppercorns?

Also called Szechuan peppercorns, they are a fragrant spice produced from the husks of the prickly ash shrub. They look very similar to black peppercorns in shape and size, but are reddish in colour and have an interesting mouth-tingling effect that acts to enhance the taste. However, they actually aren't any spicier than black peppercorns. In this recipe, we will be using crushed Sichuan peppercorns, but they can be used whole as well.
