"Winter's comin' on old friend. And we gotta get these cattle to Belle Fourshe."

John Williams music punctuates this tale of an aging rancher whose cowhands all lit out for gold leaving him with no way to drive his cattle to market, so he hires schoolboys and teaches them on the job. Superb performances throughout and the Mark Rydell direction is excellent. Bruce Dern radiates pure evil in this as the heavy in a can't miss performance. Roscoe Lee Brown almost steals the show in this adaptation of the William Dale Jennings novel. Stream it!
