Kobbie Mainoo has informed Manchester United of his desire to leave on loan before the transfer window closes to play regular first-team football.

Mainoo told United at a meeting on Thursday that while he has no intention of severing ties with his boyhood club, the 20-year-old midfielder believes his current situation does not provide the opportunity to develop his football career.

The England international made clear his wish to depart Old Trafford on a temporary basis in order to gain consistent game time — especially before his potential involvement at the World Cup next summer.

United expressed to Mainoo that they will not sanction a loan, value the academy graduate and expect him to stay and fight for his place.

West Ham have confirmed the signing of Mateus Fernandes from Southampton.

Arsenal have reached an agreement with Bayer Leverkusen to sign defender Piero Hincapie.

The deal is a season-long loan including an option to buy for a total package of €52million - plus a 10 per cent sell-on clause.

Personal terms are in place for the 23-year-old Ecuador international to transfer permanently next summer on a five-year contract.

He is expected to travel from Germany to London this weekend to undergo a medical and complete his switch to the Emirates Stadium.

Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

The clubs agreed a deal worth €60million (£51.8m; $70m) for the 22-year-old Netherlands international attacker, who has signed a five-year contract at Spurs with the option of a further two seasons.

AC Milan have announced the signing of Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea on a five-year deal until 2030, for a fee that could reach more than £36m.

Liverpool have reached an agreement to sign Alexander Isak from Newcastle United.

The deal is worth £130million ($176m) to Newcastle due to solidarity payments and will cost Liverpool £125m.

It will surpass the Premier League transfer record set by Liverpool's purchase of Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen for £116m earlier this summer.
