The post provides a clear overview of the 2024 US elections and the two main political parties, but it could benefit from more detail on the implications of the elections and a broader discussion of candidates.

The closer we get to the election, the more I think Trump is going to win.

If Trump does win, can he only do one term because he's already had one previously? Or can he get another 8 years?

So he'd be gone by 2028 even if he wins.

The closer we get to the date, the more convinced I become that he's going to win. NBC reported today that Harris is preparing to lose NC and MI.

Well....he should, but he'll try to hang on any way possible. Mark my words.

Yep, I have already seen people talking about amendments to allow him to run for a 3rd term. He is doing this to stay out of jail, he will not give it up easily.

I think there is a strong chance Trump wins. I'm no Trump fan but Harris is a really poor choice imo.

Looking through the reams of nonsense online (that's my polite word for it), it is really hard to find anything reputable that helps give pointers. Even the polls seem mostly partisan. My gut feeling is that Harris will get it by a tiny amount, but it will be incredibly close and I could see a 2000-esque situation somewhere, so we might not see a final result for a while.

Sadly, it is as clear as day what will happen here. The pattern of vote counting tends to produce results from rural areas first, and they tend to be Republican. On the basis of those results, whether he has really won or not, Trump will declare victory. Then if Harris overtakes him, he and his supporters will cry that they have been cheated, it's unfair, it's a conspiracy, etc. Chaos, and probably violence, will ensue. Like a slow-motion car crash, we are entering a very dangerous period in history. I really wish this were not the case.

I expect to wake up tomorrow to a Trump win.

Given how bad Trump is, what would it say about the Democrats over the past 4 years if he actually wins?
