PC (Microsoft Windows), PlayStation 5 Screen Burn Dec 2026
Annapurna Interactive has positioned Silent Hill: Townfall as one of its most significant releases to date. Developed by Screen Burn Interactive, this game promises to deliver a full-length experience that rivals traditional AAA titles, thanks to the stunning visuals powered by Unreal Engine 5.

During the latest Silent Hill Transmission, Hector Sanchez, the president of Annapurna Interactive, emphasised the game's scale, asserting it is "among some of the biggest games that we've ever published." Leanne Loombe, the head of games at Annapurna, highlighted the dedicated development time granted to the relatively small team of 30 developers, ensuring that their creative vision is fully realised.

Jon McKellan, the game's writer and director, described Townfall as a love letter to the Silent Hill series, reflecting the inspirations that led many team members to pursue careers in game development. He shared a personal anecdote about playing the original Silent Hill under feverish conditions, a memory that imbues the project with a sense of nostalgia and ambition.

Scheduled for release in 2026 on PS5 and PC, Silent Hill: Townfall is set to become the first full-length first-person title in the franchise. With additional details promised in upcoming broadcasts, anticipation is building for what this new instalment will reveal.
  • Silent Hill: Townfall positions itself as a major release for Annapurna Interactive.

The anticipation surrounding Silent Hill: Townfall, the latest instalment in the iconic horror franchise from Konami, has intensified with recent revelations about its platform availability. According to the game's official website, it is poised to be a console launch exclusive for the PlayStation 5. Interestingly, the listing includes only Steam, the Epic Games Store, and PS5, omitting any mention of Xbox Series X/S or Nintendo Switch 2, which suggests a strategic partnership or exclusivity with Sony.

The game recently showcased a story trailer during Sony's State of Play, featuring the eerie Scottish town of St. Amelia and protagonist Simon Ordell, who navigates his unsettling surroundings with a CRTV device. This unique mechanic seems to be central to the game's narrative and gameplay, inviting players to explore the haunting atmosphere of Silent Hill in a fresh way.

Further insights into the game were provided in a Silent Hill Transmission hosted by Konami, detailing its mechanics and story elements. Originally announced in 2022, Silent Hill: Townfall is part of a broader revival of the series, joining other notable projects like the Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill f, both of which have delighted horror fans.

In the latest reveal for Silent Hill: Townfall, we get a deeper look into the eerie Otherworld that players will navigate. This new gameplay footage showcases Simon Ordell's journey through St. Amelia, where he faces his first real challenge against the terrifying creatures that inhabit this nightmarish landscape.

Silent Hill: Townfall promises to be a full-length, self-contained psychological horror experience. For those who are fans of the franchise, this could be a thrilling addition to the lore and atmosphere we've come to love. The trailer showcases various elements that fans can expect, from eerie environments to intense gameplay moments that are sure to keep players on the edge of their seats.

Director Jon McKellan has infused the Otherworld with a unique aesthetic, reminiscent of the original Silent Hill. Still, with a distinct fever-dream quality, everything is tinged with unsettling shades of red. As Simon ventures further into this haunting environment, he finds himself armed with a pistol, but the danger is ever-present. The Otherworld is crawling with grotesque, fleshy monsters that will attack on sight, making stealth and strategy essential for survival.

PlayStation 5 Insomniac Games Sep 2026
Insomniac Games has officially announced that Marvel's Wolverine will be launching on September 15, 2026. This news comes as a pleasant surprise, given the anticipation surrounding the game since its initial reveal in 2021 during a PlayStation State of Play event.

The announcement was accompanied by a brief release date trailer, although it seems we will have to wait a bit longer for any substantial gameplay footage. Interestingly, the game did not appear at the recent PlayStation State of Play, leading to speculation about its development. Previously, a vague post hinted at future updates in spring 2026, and a broader fall 2026 release window was later confirmed.

For those eager to dive into this action-packed adventure as the iconic Wolverine, the option to wishlist the game is now available. Insomniac's previous work on titles like Spider-Man has set high expectations, and fans are curious to see how they will bring Wolverine's story to life.

Marvel's Wolverine made a thrilling appearance at Sony's recent State of Play showcase, giving us a glimpse of the intense gameplay we can expect from Insomniac's upcoming PS5 exclusive.

During the showcase, we saw Wolverine in action as he pursued a lead in a location swarming with cybernetically enhanced foes who have taken the Morlocks hostage, including the character Leech. The gameplay kicked off with some stealthy takedowns, but it quickly escalated into full-blown combat. Wolverine unleashed his adamantium claws, delivering brutal melee attacks while building up a rage meter. It's clear that this game embraces a more violent approach, and the combat showcased certainly backs that up.

Jean Grey also made a timely entrance, teaming up with Wolverine to tackle the enemy forces. Together, they executed some impressive co-op finishers. Interestingly, Jean is on a mission to rescue the Morlocks as well, but they face a challenge when the mutants are whisked away in a van. This leads to an exhilarating convoy chase, where Wolverine leaps between vehicles in a desperate attempt to save the Morlocks. A standout moment in this sequence involved the player mashing the Square button to activate Wolverine's iconic Healing Factor ability.

As the gameplay wrapped up, we were treated to extended footage featuring other notable characters like Sabretooth, Omega Red, Mystique, and Sentinels.

PlayStation has just announced a limited edition PS5 console bundle to celebrate the upcoming release of Marvel's Wolverine, which is set to launch on September 15. This bundle is a treat for those who appreciate unique designs, as it features a vibrant yellow colour scheme inspired by Wolverine's classic suit.

The console and controller both showcase a striking claw slash design, with a fierce image of Wolverine himself prominently displayed on the console. However, it's worth noting that while this is a bundle, it appears that the only additional item included is the controller - sadly, the vertical stand is not part of the package.

For those who love the design but aren't looking to purchase a whole new console, Sony has got you covered! They will be selling console covers for both the PS5 (Slim) and PS5 Pro models, allowing you to give your existing machine a Wolverine makeover. Plus, PS5 Pro owners will have the option to choose a silvery white cover, dubbed "adamantium," along with a matching controller.

Comments on the YouTube trailer for the console bundle reflect this sentiment, with some fans joking that "Wolverine would have fought for physical media rights."
PlayStation 5 SIE Santa Monica Studio Dec 2027
In an exciting reveal during Sony's recent State of Play event, the next instalment in the beloved God of War series has been announced. This title, developed by Sony Santa Monica, will be exclusive to the PS5, although a release date has yet to be disclosed.

The gameplay showcase provided a thrilling glimpse into the game, introducing Faye, the late wife of Kratos, as the central character. This marks a significant shift in perspective for the series. The official description teases a gripping narrative:

"Experience the next chapter of the legendary God of War franchise - for both new and returning fans alike. Death was supposed to be the end, but for Laufey (Faye), warrior and wife to Kratos, a new adventure is just beginning. Sony has announced that it will stop producing physical discs for PlayStation games starting in January 2028. The company cites "consumer preferences" as the driving force behind this decision to fully embrace digital gaming. However, this announcement has not been met with enthusiasm; instead, it has ignited a wave of backlash across the internet and the gaming community.

Many gamers are expressing their concerns about the implications of this shift. The sentiment is clear: the move to digital-only gaming is seen by many as a step away from consumer choice and a potential gateway to higher prices. Critics are voicing fears that without physical media, players may face dynamic pricing models that could inflate costs over time. The idea of losing the option to buy or sell used games is also a significant point of contention, as it limits the flexibility that physical media offers.

The reaction on social media has been overwhelmingly negative, with users describing the decision as "anti-consumer." Gamers are worried about the long-term effects on the industry, including the potential for increased prices and the loss of ownership that comes with digital downloads. The community is rallying around the idea that physical media provides a sense of security and permanence that digital formats cannot replicate.

As discussions continue, it's clear that this announcement has struck a chord with many, raising important questions about the future of gaming and consumer rights in an increasingly digital world.

I'm not necessarily against digital games, I've downloaded plenty in the past as well as purchasing physical media.

I have two main concerns:

1. Download speed. It takes far too long to download games as it is and I just don't have the download speed to download big games quickly enough.

2. Price. I'm worried about whether Sony (or other platforms) will ramp up the price of games. It's very expensive as it is and wouldn't be surprised if once they have full control over the market then they will impose far greater prices onto the consumer.

Sony has reassured game developers that they will still have the option to order physical disc copies of their games even after January 2028. However, there's an important stipulation to keep in mind: the games must be released before this cut-off date.

Publishers were also told that PlayStation would "provide [them] with the opportunity to release new games at retail using digital codes", suggesting you'll be able to purchase game codes outside of Sony's closed online store.

In a recent update to its business strategy, Sony has made a notable shift regarding the release of its first-party games. According to a detailed analysis of a new 229-page filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company has removed any mention of PC releases from its primary launch focus for first-party titles. This indicates a clear pivot away from launching single-player games on PC, a move that aligns with earlier reports suggesting that PlayStation is tightening its exclusivity.

During an internal meeting led by PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst, it was confirmed that future single-player narrative games will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles. This means that highly anticipated titles like Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine, Santa Monica Studio's God of War Laufey, and Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will not see a PC release. However, it's worth noting that online live-service games, such as Guerrilla Games' Horizon Hunters Gathering, will still be available on PC.

Interestingly, the previous version of Sony's SEC report from 2025 included plans to continue releasing first-party titles across multiple platforms, including PC. The latest report has completely omitted this line, signalling a significant change in strategy.

Another noteworthy addition to the document is a section discussing Sony's plans to leverage AI technology. The company aims to use AI to enhance creativity within its studios and improve the overall PlayStation experience. This includes boosting productivity, streamlining transactions, and providing personalised customer recommendations, as well as enhancing in-game visuals.

Sony's shift in exclusivity comes at a time when Xbox is also re-evaluating its release strategy, with plans to hold back certain titles exclusively for Xbox owners. Currently, only a few games, such as Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution, are confirmed as exclusives, although they will still be available on PC.
Abomb
It seems that even industry giants like Sony are feeling the pinch from rising hardware costs, particularly due to the increasing demand for AI-related components. Recent discussions have surfaced, hinting that the anticipated launch of the PS6, originally slated for 2027, could be pushed back to 2028 or even 2029.

According to an annual report from publisher Embracer, some analysts are speculating that Sony is contemplating this delay. While we don't have any official confirmation yet, the whispers in the industry suggest that these concerns may hold some weight.

One of the key issues at play is the potential cost of manufacturing the PS6. As Sony gears up for production, they are likely worried about how to manage the additional costs without passing them onto consumers. Many gamers are already feeling the strain from recent price increases on PlayStation devices, and the thought of a pricier PS6 is understandably concerning.

Interestingly, it's worth noting that rival manufacturers are facing similar challenges, which could mean that the next generation of gaming hardware may be further away than we initially thought.

PlayStation 5 Firesprite Ltd Dec 2027
Until Dawn 2 is officially on the way, but it's going to be a bit different from what we might have expected! Developed by Firesprite Games, known for their work on Horizon Call of the Mountain, this sequel is set to launch in 2027 exclusively for PS5.

Now, here's the twist - Until Dawn 2 is a standalone experience. That means we'll be diving into a brand-new story with a fresh cast of characters. This time around, we'll follow a group of ghost hunters who are more about staging supernatural encounters than actually facing real danger. However, things take a terrifying turn when they arrive on an abandoned tropical island, where the scares become all too real.

The game promises to keep us on our toes with choices that can lead to saving characters or dooming them to a dreadful fate. Whether it's creating drama for the sake of their show or even a heartwarming moment involving a baby boar, players will have plenty of decisions to make.

Interestingly, the only familiar face we've spotted so far is Dr. Hill, but his role in this new narrative remains a mystery.

As we get closer to the release date, Firesprite plans to reveal more details about the story, gameplay mechanics, and the new cast, so keep an eye out for updates!
Sony has announced a State of Play showcase scheduled for June 2nd at 2pm PT / 5pm ET / 10pm UK time / 11pm CEST.

What's on the Agenda?
In a post on PlayStation Blog, Sony said it will last for over 60 minutes, and include a new look at Insomniac's Wolverine game, as well as news and announcements for games coming to PS5.

"State of Play returns Tuesday, June 2 with more than 60 minutes of updates, announcements, and gameplay reveals from top studios around the world," Tim Turi, Content Communications Manager, Sony Interactive Entertainment, said.

Sony has promised more news and announcements related to upcoming PS5 titles, which is always great to hear. With so many games in the pipeline, it'll be interesting to see which titles get the spotlight.

State of Play arrives following price rises not just for PlayStation hardware, but for the cost of PlayStation Plus. Sony has blamed these price rises on "ongoing market conditions," but the reality is that PlayStation gaming has become more expensive. So, the pressure is on Sony to use the likes of State of Play to show customers the value of their PS5.

Sony has announced price increases for its subscription service, PlayStation Plus.

PlayStation Plus is Sony's monthly subscription service for PS4 and PS5 consoles that grants access to online multiplayer, monthly downloadable games, and exclusive PlayStation Store discounts.

Starting May 20, PlayStation Plus prices for new customers will increase in select regions, Sony said in its announcement, blaming "ongoing market conditions." Prices will start at $10.99 USD / €9.99 EUR / £7.99 GBP for 1-month subscriptions and $27.99 USD / €27.99 EUR / £21.99 GBP for three-month subscriptions.

 https://twitter.com/i/web/status/2056409092919263547

The subscription increase does not apply to current subscribers (except in Turkey and India) unless the existing subscription changes or lapses, Sony added.

The news comes amid price rises across the video game industry, particularly for hardware. Sony itself raised the price of PS5 consoles back in March, blaming "continued pressures in the global economic landscape." Earlier this month, Sony said it had yet to decide when to launch the PlayStation 6, nor how much it would cost, as memory shortages fueled by the AI boom continue to hit hard.

As you'd expect, PlayStation fans have reacted negatively to the news, with some saying PlayStation Plus shouldn't be required for online gaming in the first place, and that these new price rises make gaming on PlayStation even costlier. Others have hit out at Sony, blaming the price rises on "ongoing market conditions," pointing out Microsoft just cut the price of Xbox Game Pass.
