A legitimate question. Do you think that people have become to critical with social media. People just always seem angry to me nowadays. This comes with movies, tv, games, and pretty much anything. It is a bit ridiculous IMO. People feel so entitled with their social media that their voice is the only one that matters. They bash literally everything. I look at movies for example. People will constantly complain about movies, yet praise some of the movies that would be regarded as TERRIBLE now. I go into movies (and any entertainment) to have fun. No movie is perfect. There are comedies, dramas, action, etc. Some will fail in some aspects and succeed in others.
Not all students have missed out or are falling behind. Many who engaged with their lessons/teachers over the lockdowns are doing just fine. Those that did very little school work in the lockdowns did miss out and are falling behind. Some because of lack of devices/connection but many because there was no one there to ensure they did the work. Many because parents had to work so couldn’t supervise, some because they and their parents don’t value learning and/or couldn’t be bothered. It is a complex issue and providing an extra half hour a day will not solve the problem for those who really need it.
Apparently, it's been almost a decade since her 60th so, yeah. And trust me, we here in Canada won't get a four day celebration. Maybe a royal visit at most (And given QEII's age, it probably won't be her. Likely either Charles or William.) While I am a republican as well, I'd wait until I see what replaces it before I celebrate. After the farce South of me, I am now suspicious of elected executive branches. Perhaps a ceremonial president like Israel and Germany, but that still leaves the problem of how to choose them in a way that best represents the nation. Election by Parliament strikes me as just opening the door to political BS. In some way, a hereditary monarch with limited powers may actually be the lesser evil. I just wish we Canadians had our own instead of borrowing someone else's.
Getting inked does not appeal to me and even gives me the willies at bit when I see where some people have them.. That said, they spook me less than piercings. And I've seen some nice ones with definite artistic merit so I'm not opposed to their existence or anything. Just don't ask me to get one or watch someone else getting one. Seeing the final product is quite enough, thanks.
Cities and towns even the smallest ones, now charging a euphemistically named "drainage tax." In the name of helping the environment, they now tax you X dollars per square foot of "non-permeable surfaces" you have on your property. (Concrete or paved driveways, parking lots.) Allegedly this is due to all the extra expense and water waste involved in processing all of this runoff water whereas they say they would rather see it filter back into the soil eventually working its way down to our aquifer, replenishing it. Sounds darn well noble. BUT... While at the same time, forbidding you via the building codes, to use TRULY environmentally friendly materials that ARE permeable, AND recyclable, such as crushed concrete or crushed granite! ANNNND requiring X amount of square foot of paving as a ratio to the square foot of your building! So obviously it's about finding another source of revenue - literally taxing the rain! - Than about anything at all noble. Another one - they want you to "go green" and use alternative power sources for electricity. Hey, that's cool. I'm one of the greenest fellas around. BUT.... Again via the building codes, you are not allowed to use any form of wind turbine in the city limits! Not even the ones designed for home use that don't involve towers of any kind! And a solar panel on your roof? Nah. Code requirements make it economically useless. How about one of those really sweet solar roofs? Not so fast, bucko. To get a permit for that is a LONG process and they look at your square footage of roof, pitch, design, THEN decide if you can have one maybe. None of this affects me personally, since I do not live in a town or a city. But it really grinds my gears for my city dweller friends to have to live with such nonsensical crap.
That’s impressive. Ancient Egyptian’s were a very resourceful and skilled civilisation, I’ve been to the Valley of the Kings, it’s an incredible feat of engineering. As are so many of their temples. One place we went to they had this well type structure that they used to measure the height of the nearby Nile and know when it was going to flood. And there were medical tools some of which you’d recognise today. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-56686448
I've not read all of her journey but that's a good read. My sister-in-law kept a diary/blog when she went through breast cancer treatment and the support she received even virtual strangers really helped her immensely. You'll know yourself the emotional rollercoaster for the person in treatment and their loved ones. The journey, especially at the start can be daunting, chemotherapy or radiotherapy can break eve the strongest person but it is not always all doom and gloom.
Funhouse was definitely one that I'd always wanted to have a go on.. I've also been a long-term fan of Crystal Maze from a young age, and still fancy doing that to this day - which you now can, although I seem to recall it's pretty expensive to do so.. I've had interviews for both Deal or No Deal and Pointless, but sadly neither came to fruition. I'd quite like a go at Tipping Point, but I haven't looked into applying for that show yet.. I quite fancy doing The Circle too, although I haven't watched any of the current series yet.
Depends on the product. Everyday stuff like food, toiletries, etc. not really. Might do research on nutrition of particular produce or food products at times, but not routinely. For "big ticket" purchases, though, like electronics or cars, sure. Especially computer stuff since I work in IT and have lots of research and review sources to draw on (plus my own experience, of course).
I ended up going to physiotherapy and ended up having about 8 sessions of traction and getting an exercise programme which takes the edge off most of the time. Sometimes I need painkillers too but a tablet can only give temporary relief. You need to see a physical specialist to get to the root of the problem.
