The Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns have made a deal.

Houston gives:
  • 2025 5th-round pick
  • 2027 5th-round pick
Cleveland gives:
  • Two 2025 6th-round picks
  • 2025 7th-round pick
That means the Browns are down to eight picks at the start of the draft.

And, just hours away from the start of the first round, Browns GM Andrew Berry has been actively listening to offers for the No. 2 overall pick and many believe he's willing to move a few spots back.

Cleveland has holes to fill and have just four top-100 picks to address them.

Travis Hunter is the best football player in this class, by a decent margin, Hunter is as rare as he is dynamic. It's incredibly difficult to compare him to any current NFL player, as we really haven't seen a modern equivalent of someone who can play two of the most exhausting positions on the field at an elite level, all game long. He should be a day one standout, on either side of the ball.

First-round winners and losers.

Winners:
  • Jaguars GM James Gladstone: Pulled off a bold trade for Travis Hunter, filling two team needs in one pick.
  • New York Giants: Landed top pass-rusher Abdul Carter at #3, then traded back into the first round to select QB Jaxson Dart.
  • Jordan Love (Packers): Green Bay finally used a first-round pick on a WR (Matthew Golden), something they never did for Aaron Rodgers.
  • Aaron Rodgers: Steelers didn't draft a QB, signaling confidence in possibly signing Rodgers for 2025.
  • Titans Fans: Tennessee took QB Cam Ward first overall, potentially finding their first true franchise QB since Steve McNair.
  • Howie Roseman (Eagles): Drafted LB Jihaad Campbell at #31—another potential defensive gem despite injury concerns.
Losers:
  • Shedeur Sanders: Projected top-10 pick fell out of the first round entirely; his draft stock plummeted.
  • Falcons Front Office: Gave up a 2026 first-round pick to re-enter the draft and select James Pearce—seen as a desperate move.
  • Saints QB Situation: Ignored QB need at #9, choosing OT Kelvin Banks Jr. instead; may regret it if they miss out in Round 2.
  • Browns Fans: Thought they'd land Travis Hunter, but were left disappointed after the trade; ended up with Mason Graham at #5.
  • Draft Event Logistics: Fans were turned away due to venue overcapacity—poor planning marred the fan experience.
  • Cowboys Decision-Making: Reached for Tyler Booker at #12; now have three starting offensive linemen named Tyler, creating chaos (and jokes) for coaches.

Jaguars gave up a haul but got the best player in the draft. It got pretty boring until we got to laugh at Dallas for taking an unathletic OG way too early. The Falcons made a horrific trade including next year's 1st just to move into the mid 20's. Sanders' fans got excited when the Giants traded back into the 1st only for them to take Dart.

Some prognosticators are projecting Sanders to fall to the beginning of the third round.

Just caught a bit of Round 2.

The Browns staying on defense in teaming Carson Schwesinger with first-round defensive tackle Mason Graham. They really need some offensive playmakers though.

Jayden Higgins is a great pick by the Texans - Collins, Higgins and a healthy Tank Dell could be a lot of fun in Houston.

Seattle made a big move up the board, trading picks Nos. 52 and 82 overall to Tennessee for pick No. 35. They have taken Nick Emmanwori, who will give an instant boost to their secondary.

Back to the Browns again, they use the extra second-rounder they got from Jacksonville in last night's blockbuster trade to replenish their running back room with Quinshon Judkins. Cleveland have made two good trades in the round.

The Dolphins sent the Raiders picks Nos. 48 (second round), 98 (third round) and 135 (fourth round) to move up to No. 37. The Dolphins select Arizona OL Jonah Savaiinaea with the 37th pick.

With the 38th pick, the Patriots selected RB TreVeyon Henderson. A surprise move this early. One year after signing Rhamondre Stevenson to an extension, they draft a running back in the second round. Despite having a lot of other needs.

"With the 39th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the 2025 NFC North champion Chicago Bears select..." cheeky and brave announcement in rival fans' territory by former Bear Dez White. The Bears pick WR Luther Burden III. Great talent but he doesn't match the Bears' needs.

The Saints draft a QB at No. 40, but it is not Sanders. Tyler Shough is 26 years old and comes with a lengthy injury history, but he's also one of the most NFL-ready quarterbacks in this class.

Shedeur Sanders will now, at best, be the fourth quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cam Ward, Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough have all been taken ahead of him, as have 36 other players.

The Bills trade picks No. 56, 62 and 109 to the Bears to move up to No. 41, Bills also get Nos. 72 and 240. I wonder who Buffalo want!

At No.41, the Bills pick versatile tackle TJ Sanders. He gives the Bills a boost in the trenches, but it's a surprising trade-up for Buffalo.

Shedeur Sanders is a Cleveland Browns player.

Cleveland traded up to select the Colorado quarterback with the 144th overall pick in the fifth round Saturday, making him the sixth quarterback taken in this year's draft. Considered to be among the top quarterbacks available in this year's draft class, Sanders' slide became the story of Day 3 as 143 picks came and went before his selection.

The Browns, who drafted a quarterback — Oregon's Dillon Gabriel — in the third round on Friday as well, traded pick Nos. 166 and 192 to the Seattle Seahawks to move up to 144 and get Sanders.

The Browns' updated quarterback room:
  • Deshaun Watson (injured)
  • Kenny Pickett (trade)
  • Joe Flacco (free agency)
  • Dillon Gabriel (draft)
  • Shedeur Sanders (draft)
The Browns will hold an open competition this spring and summer for the starting quarterback job.

Tom

I'm happy with the Buffalo picks. I was impressed by the early rounds but I'm a bit perplexed by the day three selections, in truth. But, then, I don't sit in the interviews and get to know the prospects like the Bills backroom staff do.

I think we will definitely need to do some business to bring in a WR and equip Josh Allen with the weapons that can make them a Super Bowl contender.
