Shedeur Sanders is a Cleveland Browns player.

What prompted the Browns to draft Sanders after drafting Gabriel in the third round? I really don't understand the thought process. Could it have been just to keep him from being drafted by the Steelers a half dozen picks later?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are finalizing a trade to send wide receiver George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in exchange for draft picks, Dallas announced Wednesday.

Pittsburgh will receive a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 fifth-round pick. Along with Pickens, the Cowboys will receive a 2027 sixth-round pick. Previous trade talks, which began before the draft, stalled between the teams as the Cowboys offered only a fourth-round pick, per a league source.

Justin Tucker's 13-season run with the Baltimore Ravens is over.

The Ravens announced Monday they released the veteran kicker, who has been accused by 16 massage therapists of sexually inappropriate behaviour during bodywork sessions. The allegations were made in a series of investigative stories by The Baltimore Banner in late January. Tucker has denied the allegations.

Ravens general manager Eric DeCosta didn't reference the allegations in a statement announcing the move. Instead, he cited Tucker's release as a "football decision."

"Sometimes football decisions are incredibly difficult, and this is one of those instances. Considering our current roster, we have made the tough decision to release Justin Tucker," DeCosta said. "Justin created many significant and unforgettable moments in Ravens history. His reliability, focus, drive, resilience and extraordinary talent made him one of the league's best kickers for over a decade. We are grateful for Justin's many contributions while playing for the Ravens. We sincerely wish him and his family the very best in this next chapter of their lives."

Saints QB Derek Carr announced his retirement after dealing with a shoulder injury that would knock him out for the 2025 season.

"Upon reflection of prayer, and in discussion with (my wife) Heather, I've decided to retire from the National Football League," Carr said in the statement. "For more than 11 years, we have been incredibly blessed, and we are forever grateful and humbled by this experience. It's difficult to find the right words to express our thanks to all the teammates, coaches, management, ownership, team officials and especially the fans who made this journey so special. Your unwavering support has meant the world to us."

By retiring, Carr will forgo his guaranteed $30 million contract, while the Saints will not seek reimbursement for his $10 million roster and signing bonus, league sources confirmed.

Sad that injuries has forced his retirement. You never want that to be the reason a player can't play anymore. For the Saints, though, this is kind of a blessing.

Brock Purdy and the San Francisco 49ers on Friday agreed to terms on a five-year, $265 million contract extension that makes him the wealthiest player in franchise history, league sources reported on Friday evening. The deal includes $181 million in total guarantees.

Good on him. He's earned that paycheck. Pretty much on par with the market rate. Now it'll be up to him to go out and perform as a top earning QB without the same level of supporting cast he had his early years.

I always had great respect for Mike Tomlin and I'd call him the third best coach over the last 20 or so years behind Belichick and Reid.

However I think he's made some very questionable decisions and mistakes over the last couple of years and this is a big one in my opinion

In a significant move for the Houston Texans, former Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb is poised to sign a one-year contract, pending a successful physical examination. This decision comes despite Chubb receiving more lucrative offers from other teams, as he appears to value the opportunity to join a backfield featuring Joe Mixon.

Chubb's career has been marked by impressive performances, including four consecutive seasons with over 1,000 rushing yards, showcasing his potential as a dynamic playmaker. However, recent seasons have been plagued by injuries, including a serious knee injury in 2023 and a broken foot in 2024. His statistics reflect this decline, averaging only 3.9 yards per carry and 50.2 yards per game in the past two seasons compared to 5.2 yards per carry and 84.5 yards in his first five seasons.

The Texans' backfield now becomes more intriguing with the addition of Chubb, especially in conjunction with Mixon and rookie Woody Marks. The potential for a robust running attack could provide critical support for quarterback CJ Stroud and new offensive coordinator Nick Caley.

I would take a punt on Rodgers. Anything with the Jets has a bit of an asterisk for me, as it's such a train-wreck of a franchise. The culture in Pittsburgh is much better.

Rodgers' ceiling is higher than Russell Wilson or Fields. The best the Steelers were getting with them was ok play. With Rodgers, they have a chance of something good.

Sure, it's a gamble, but it's a one-year deal, and they were going nowhere with Wilson/Fields.
