I think a lot of talk and ideas came out of the meeting between Trump, Ukraine and their allies. But there is very little in the way of details or concrete actions that make the end of this war any closer.

I'd imagine Ukraine won't cede land, and Russia won't agree to troops in Ukraine, so the fighting will continue.

I think for many Ukrainians, there is a troubling sense of deja vu. In the 1994 Budapest Memoranda, they were promised security guarantees in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons, which is mainly why we are where we are now.

Today, Trump has said there will be no US boots on the ground, so it remains to be seen what kind of security guarantees the US will provide and also whether the "coalition of the willing" can actually work.

Everyone is talking a good game just now, but that's all it is - talk.

Russia won't agree to troops in Ukraine, so the fighting will continue.

I don't think Russia should really get to dictate what happens. The time has come to get tough with them. Put troops in, force them out, then use the billions of dollars that have been frozen in banks to rebuild Ukraine.

This seems to be the gist of the situation right now. Trump meets up with Putin and promises him something he can't deliver, then meets up with Ukraine and Europe and promises them something he can't deliver, while claiming Russia made concessions they didn't make, to give the false impression that progress is being made. Nothing seems to have changed after these two summits and that's probably the best outcome we could have hoped for.

Leaving aside the moral issue, it's strongly in the interests of all of Europe, including the UK, that Ukraine is willing and able to resist Russian aggression. They have a large and experienced army strategically positioned to pin down Russian forces and would probably take the opportunity to strike back if those forces were transferred away from the Ukrainian theatre to some adventure elsewhere. They are also the world leaders in drone warfare.

Also, at another press conference.

"I am confident that in the West - first and foremost in the United States - they perfectly understand that discussing the issue of security without the Russian Federation is a utopia, a road to nowhere".

It is now VERY obvious that Putin has absolutely no intention of ending the "Special Military Operation" in the foreseeable future. Why? Because of the demands he wants met before he stops. He knows that Ukraine has no intention of meeting those demands, therefore, the war will continue.

More stalling, stating the obvious, and bullshit from Russia

In its daily news briefing, the Kremlin has said that US efforts to find peace in Ukraine are "very important" and can help resolve the long-standing conflict.

However, spokesperson Dmitry Peskov added that Moscow took a negative view of European proposals for security guarantees for Ukraine.

He reiterated Russia's long-standing position that no troops from NATO countries should be deployed to Ukraine.

On conducting high-level peace talks with Ukraine, Peskov said such meetings had to be well prepared for them to be effective.

Following reports that overnight Russian strikes in Ukraine targeted the country's energy infrastructure, Peskov said that Moscow only strikes military and military-connected targets.

At least 19 people have been confirmed killed in overnight Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital, officials have said.

That tally includes four children, the youngest of whom was two years old.

A five-storey residential building was destroyed, and the EU mission and nearby British Council were damaged.

Russia has no interest in peace. When will the penny drop?

Absolutely vile attack by Russia today and all we get from Europe is the usual outrage and strongly worded statements. Enough words, more actions, more weapons and hit Russia much harder is the only answer to this, because it's clear the Americans couldn't give a damn either way
