Initial reactions to Kingdom Come: Deliverance II suggest a blend of excitement and skepticism. Many users appreciated the improved setting and worldbuilding but expressed concerns about combat mechanics and bugs. The discussion revolved around whether these aspects have improved compared to the first game, with some citing early previews and gameplay footages as proof of enhancements.12

As the thread progresses, participants share personal experiences with the gameplay. While some players describe enjoyable moments and improved mechanics, others feel frustrated, particularly with combat systems that still appear challenging. The introduction of Hardcore Mode and new DLC features adds to the excitement but also raises questions about balancing gameplay difficulty.34

In the later posts, the focus shifts towards specific gameplay elements, such as fighting mechanics and the upcoming DLC. Users express both hope and doubt about mastering the combat systems, with some identifying issues that still persist from the first game. The roadmap reveals significant content additions that could enhance the overall experience, but unresolved gameplay concerns linger in the air.56

"Warhorse Studios has released patch 1.2.4, which adds Hardcore Mode."

"Someone reassure me that at some point the combat clicks..."

Verdict

While enthusiasm for the sequel is palpable, uncertainty about combat and gameplay balance remains. Many players look forward to upcoming content while hoping for refinements to existing mechanics.

The original game's story ended so abruptly that it almost made me angry.

I'm curious how they'll approach the gameplay this time. In the first game, it made sense that Henry basically couldn't do anything at the start - after all, he was supposedly a blacksmith's somewhat lazy son. But if the sequel continues Henry's story - and they should, considering the aforementioned cliffhanger ending to the first game - then he should start out competent this time. After all, my Henry was cutting up entire teams of soldiers with ease by the end.

Looking forward to this!!

I just started Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 this evening. It's still extremely early, I only completed the first training sword fight, mainly because I had to reload my game twice after losing at dice too many times before I started to figure it out. It seems fun. Sword fighting doesn't really feel great, but I imagine it gets better with more practice.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to release its Legacy of the Forge DLC, introducing an ambitious home customisation system. Players will have the opportunity to build over 136 million different houses, albeit not all at once. The DLC follows protagonist Henry of Skalitz as he returns to Kuttenberg to reclaim his father's legacy as a blacksmith.

The vast number of combinations may sound enticing, but it also raises scepticism. One might wonder if the sheer volume will lead to a plethora of indistinguishable options - many variations could be as trivial as slightly shifting mead cups on tables. This raises an interesting point about game design: does more truly equate to better?

The focus of this expansion not only revolves around house building but also includes quests to uncover the hidden past of Henry's father and forge new friendships, along with unique weapons and armour blueprints. While the promise of customisation is exciting, there's an underlying caution against overwhelming players with choice.
  • Legacy of the Forge DLC offers extensive home customisation.
  • Players can create over 136 million houses, raising questions about uniqueness.
  • The story involves uncovering the protagonist's father's hidden past.
  • Customisation brings both excitement and scepticism regarding player experience.
  • The DLC aims to balance quantity with quality in gameplay.

I'm going to restart this at some point. I made a mistake in not getting the Master Strike ability from Tomcat. I couldn't beat the boss in the final fight of the For Victory act, so I gave up and uninstalled it.

I'm at the exact same point. I cannot get past Zizka no matter how hard I try.

I don't really want to restart the game to get the Master Strike ability :(
