Liverpool have collected 27 fewer points than at the same stage last season.

Leicester beat Liverpool 3-1.

There is a real danger that Liverpool not only miss out on Champions League football but European competition altogether next season.

Jurgen Klopp has all but conceded the title after Liverpool's lose at Leicester. They've had a terrible run of injuries in defence and they are well behind Man City in the league.

Man City, for their part, have just won their 16th game in a row in all competitions and look back to their best after a dip in form last year. Gundogan is having a fantastic season for them and must be in contention for the player of the year.

Man United drop points against West Brom leaving them 7 points behind City and they played a game more.

Southampton have now lost 6 straight games in the league after losing to Wolves.

Arsenal are currently pummelling Leeds, 4-0 at half time, in a match I thought they'd struggle in.

Fascinating how well former Ligue 1 talents are performing in the Premier League. Areola, Maja, Bertrand Traore, Gabriel, Bissouma, Raphinha, all taken to the league better than I imagined. Even Cavani has exceeded my expectations based on his previous form.

They aren't always a sure thing (Pepe and Bakayoko didn't click the way I would have expected) but they do seem to be the best league to target if you're a Premier League club looking overseas, particularly with their current financial picture. By contrast, high-profile Bundesliga signings haven't taken to the league as well as I would have figured.

Gundogan out injured tonight for Man City. No problem, step up Bernardo Silva. Class player.

I couldn't believe Ally McCoist giving Mahrez the man of the match. He scored an excelllent goal which was created by Bernardo Silva who controlled the passage of passing leading up to Mahrez's strike. Silva then scored a great goal himself and was involved throughout the match - he was more deserving than Mahrez.

It is looking ominous for the rest of the league now. City are in scintilating form and have now won 17 matches on the bounce in all competitions.

Everton beat Liverpool 2-0 at Anfield in the Merseyside derby

Liverpool's ambitions of retaining the Premier League are well and truly over. They went 4 years without a home, now that is 4 home defeats in a row. Simply not good enough, no matter how many injuries they have.

Really really bizarre situation in the WBA Brighton game. Brighton scored a free kick, but it was ruled out. Then it was overruled and allowed before being overruled again and back to the original free kick situation.

The referee, Lee Mason, blew his whistle to signal the free kick could be taken. So Brighton took it while the goalkeeper was not set. Hit then blew it again while the ball was in the air.

West Brom won the game.

Liverpool's defeat at home to Chelsea this evening is the first time in their 129 year history that they've lost 5 home games in a row!
