Starfield
Starfield is the first new universe in over 25 years from Bethesda Game Studios, the award-winning creators of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4. In this next generation role-playing game set amongst the stars, create any character you want and explore with unparalleled freedom as you embark on an epic journey to answer humanity's greatest mystery.

In the year 2330, humanity has ventured beyond our solar system, settling new planets, and living as a spacefaring people. You will join Constellation – the last group of space explorers seeking rare artefacts throughout the galaxy – and navigate the vast expanse of space in Bethesda Game Studios' biggest and most ambitious game.

Tell Your Story
In Starfield the most important story is the one you tell with your character. Start your journey by customizing your appearance and deciding your Background and Traits. Will you be an experienced explorer, a charming diplomat, a stealthy cyber runner, or something else entirely? The choice is yours. Decide who you will be and what you will become.

Explore Outer Space
Venture through the stars and explore more than 1000 planets. Navigate bustling cities, explore dangerous bases, and traverse wild landscapes. Meet and recruit a memorable cast of characters, join in the adventures of various factions, and embark on quests across the Settled Systems. A new story or experience is always waiting to be discovered.

Captain the Ship Of Your Dreams
Pilot and command the ship of your dreams. Personalize the look of your ship, modify critical systems including weapons and shields, and assign crew members to provide unique bonuses. In deep space you will engage in high-stakes dogfights, encounter random missions, dock at star stations, and even board and commandeer enemy ships to add to your collection.

Discover, Collect, Build
Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. Invest these raw materials into research projects to unlock unique crafting recipes.

Lock and Load
Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.

Bethesda's space opera Starfield is officially delayed. The game was supposed to appear on November 11, 2022. Instead, it will appear in Q1 2023.

Bethesda didn't offer any detailed explanation for the Starfield delay, beyond citing quality control thoughts.

In a statement released via Twitter, the publisher noted that Bethesda Game Studios require more time on their project to make it the "best, most polished" title it can be.

"We can't wait to share our first deep dive into the gameplay for Starfield soon" says Bethesda. Expect that at the Xbox and Bethesda Games Showcase, which will take place on June 12.

Starfield needs no introduction. The game sells itself as an entertaining space expedition to "answer humanity's greatest mystery" and marks Bethesda's first new IP in 25 years. To help kill time and make the wait for the game more bearable, why not watch the video below for things we know so far about the Xbox-exclusive Bethesda RPG.

I'm 4 hours in. I really like it so far.

Definitely Bethesda's most polished game on release. Even the 30fps seems ok, very steady and playable.

Skyrim in space is fine by me.

It's decent, but it takes like 4 hours to actually get to a point where it's decent. Such a slow starter.

I decided to buy the upgrade.

I've only had the chance to play a couple of hours, enjoyed what I have seen so far. Looking forward to getting back to it over the weekend!

I did manage to get arrested, though I'm not sure why, maybe it's just part of the story. I was offered the chance of doing an undercover mission to avoid jail time but declined though the mission is still available and those that proposed the mission are now a enemy.

I'm having a lot of fun on Akila as a ranger.

That's the main campaign gone for the next while. I'm busy as a space ranger and bounty hunter on a lawless planet

Enjoying this. The side missions have side tracked me a little though.

I've just go completed my 6th main mission which was gaining my first "power", on my way to Neon now.

Think I've done about 11 side missions with another 5 in progress). I've also got the Mantis legendary gear and ship (much better than the default Frontier).

Decided to play around with the outposts for 30 minutes on today. That turned in to like 4 hrs and well I'm still playing around with outposts building myself a mining and shipping empire.

Can't believe how much time you lose whilst trying to figure out why you Hydrogen extractors don't seem to have any power and why all of a sudden did that hydrogen generator just cut out. It's very tedious but when you start seeing ships landing and taking off every 5 mins it feels good.

Must say I'm loving it so far, seems like any detour leads to hours of side content, went to kill a bounty, got a distress call from a farm, rebooted satellites, brokered a defense treaty and am now leading a small fleet to combat.

Also starting to delve in ship building out of necessity, getting my ass handed to me in ship combat (usual 3v1) at hard difficulty, any reason to keep the frontier? Took a bounty hunters ship so might start using that as my base ship.

I'm playing on hard difficulty too. The trick with ship combat is to be aggressive in your movement, which necessitates putting power into your engines. So having a speedy ship is very useful.

My current combat ship is a fast glass cannon essentially. It can't take too many hits, but it's also very hard to hit due to how I pilot it, and it's weapons tear ships apart.

I'm sure there are other tactics to employ. But being aggressive works for me.

The team is also "continuing to work on a larger update" that'll address some top-requested community features - you can read all about those down below:

Bethesda has announced today that a variety of features will be coming to Starfield across Xbox and PC as part of a "regular interval of updates", including some pretty big ones targeting the likes of HDR and DLSS.

This is a game we'll be supporting for years and years to come, so please keep all the feedback coming! Even if we don't get to your requests immediately, we'd love to do it in the future, like city maps. Our priority initially is making sure any top blocker bugs or stability issues are addressed, and adding quality-of-life features that many are asking for.

Here's the list of those "top community requested features" for Starfield that are coming soon:
  • Brightness and Contrast controls
  • HDR Calibration Menu
  • FOV Slider
  • Nvidia DLSS Support (PC)
  • 32:9 Ultrawide Monitor Support (PC)
  • Eat button for food!
We're also working closely with Nvidia, AMD, and Intel on driver support, and each update will include new stability and performance improvements.

Along with this, there are a couple other things to mention. Firstly, Bethesda has reiterated that built-in mod support will arrive early in 2024, and "will work across all platforms similar to what we've done with Skyrim and Fallout 4".
