Season 2 takes a while to get going, but the back half is excellent.
It's been a while since I watched the French original, but I do remember a great chess-based conversation that was plot-relevant that hasn't been brought into this version.
I think this version isn't as good at showing how the various plot threads link together. Makes me want to go back and watch the French original.
On episode 6. Absolutely loving it, and I really thought I was going to hate it. Not as atmospheric as the DeNiro movie, but lots more depth to characters and some interesting side plots.

Steam has just rolled out some fantastic new features that make gifting games, hardware, and gift cards a breeze! Whether you're looking to surprise a friend or simply share your favourite titles, these updates are sure to enhance your experience on the platform.
One of the standout features is the guest checkout option. Previously, this was limited to hardware and gift cards, but now you can purchase games without needing a Steam account. This means if you want to buy a game from a friend's wishlist, you can do so easily. If you're aiming for a surprise, all you need is the recipient's email address. The recipient will receive an email with all the necessary details to log into their account and redeem the gift. Just remember, their account must be in the same country as the purchase, and they need to redeem it within 30 days to avoid automatic refunds.
Another exciting addition is the ability to gift games directly across regions. Steam will handle the calculations for you, so you won't have to figure out how many gift cards you need to cover the price of a game. However, keep in mind that the recipient must be on your friends list for this feature to work.
Additionally, Steam has expanded its wishlist functionality. You no longer need to be friends with someone to gift them a game from their wishlist. Plus, you can create specific, filtered wishlists to share with family and friends, making it easier for them to know exactly what you want. When someone sends you a gift, your details will be auto-filled in the checkout cart, streamlining the process even further.
Guest checkout
In 2024, we added guest checkout, which lets a family member or friend make a gift purchase without needing to create a Steam account. This feature was limited to digital gift cards and hardware purchases at the time.
Now guest checkout can be used to buy any game on Steam.
You can send a wishlist share link to a friend or family member, and they can purchase gifts directly from that list without needing a Steam account themselves. If a guest wants to send a gift as a surprise, they can send it to any email address instead.
Gift to email
Don't know your nephew's Steam account? No problem, both digital gift cards and games can now be sent directly to email recipients. And don't worry if your nephew's email address is the same one they use for their Steam account. The email will include a link to let them sign in to their account and accept the gift.
Please note that any gift email not accepted within 30 days will be automatically refunded, so they cannot be scheduled for future delivery. The recipient of the gift must also live in the same country as the purchaser.
Cross-region gifting
Buying a gift for a friend in a higher-priced region? In the past, digital gift cards were the gifting solution, but that required you to know the full price of the game in your friend's region.
Now you can gift games directly to your friend. Steam will calculate the cost in your friend's region at checkout. Your friend needs to be on your Steam friends list to send this type of gift.
Direct from wishlist
Sending a friend or family member a link to your wishlist is a great way to help them choose a great gift for your birthday or holiday. We have made several share link improvements, including:
You can now send a digital gift card or gift a game directly from someone's wishlist
You no longer need to be friends on Steam to send gifts
You can create a shared wishlist link that is filtered to specific games
When a friend or family member clicks on your shared wishlist link, if they choose to gift you a game, the gift recipient in the cart will be pre-populated with your information.
And remember from above, your friend or family member can checkout as a guest, without needing to create a Steam account
Overall, these new features promise to make gifting on Steam more seamless and enjoyable. It's interesting to see these changes come at a time when discussions about game ownership are becoming more prevalent, but that's a topic for another day!
Heartburn can be quite a nuisance, especially when you're uncertain about what foods to include in your diet or which ones to steer clear of. The good news is that relief doesn't typically come from a single "magic" food. Instead, it involves understanding your personal triggers, opting for gentler meals, and being mindful of habits such as large portions, late-night snacks, or foods that consistently lead to discomfort.
Let's explore foods that may help when heartburn strikes, what to avoid, and some everyday habits that could assist in reducing those pesky flare-ups.
Can Foods Relieve Acid Reflux or Neutralise Stomach Acid Immediately?
When heartburn occurs, it's only natural to seek quick relief. Many people find themselves searching for answers like "what foods neutralise stomach acid immediately" or "how to relieve acid reflux fast." However, food has its limitations. Antacids are specifically designed to neutralise stomach acid and can provide relief for mild symptoms. For more frequent reflux, other medications may be necessary.
Food can help manage reflux, but it won't give you instant relief. When heartburn strikes, it's best to focus on simple, gentle foods that are less likely to aggravate your symptoms.
What Can I Eat Right Now?
When heartburn hits, simplicity is key. Here are some foods that may be easier to tolerate, although they won't guarantee relief:
Bananas or Melon: These lower-acid fruits can be helpful for some individuals. Consider trying bananas, cantaloupe, honeydew, or watermelon. If citrus fruits tend to trigger your symptoms, it's wise to avoid oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and their juices.
Oatmeal: A straightforward whole-grain option, oatmeal is often included in reflux-friendly eating patterns. Stick to simple toppings like sliced banana or a drizzle of honey, avoiding high-fat add-ins such as nut butters.
Brown Rice, Sweet Potatoes, or Whole-Grain Toast: These plain starches are filling without being heavy. Whole grains and root vegetables are common staples in reflux-friendly diets. Keep preparation methods simple - baking, steaming, or serving plain works best compared to frying or heavy seasoning.
Low-Fat Yoghurt or Low-Fat Milk (if tolerated): Many people wonder if milk can help with heartburn. The answer varies by individual. If you want to try dairy, start with a small amount of low-fat milk or yoghurt and see how your body reacts. If it worsens your reflux, it's best to avoid it.
Small Sips of Water: Some people look into water as a natural remedy for acid reflux. Sipping water may help wash acid down and ease symptoms for some. If coffee or alcohol trigger your symptoms, water is a simple alternative. Just remember to sip slowly rather than gulping it down at once.
What Foods To Avoid With Acid Reflux?
Knowing what to avoid can be just as helpful as knowing what to eat. You don't have to remove every possible trigger - start by noticing which foods you eat before symptoms arise.
Greasy or fried foods: Fried foods, fast food, creamy sauces, and greasy meals may trigger symptoms for some people. If that's a pattern for you, try baking, grilling, roasting, or steaming more often.
Spicy foods: Very spicy meals may worsen symptoms for some people. Try milder seasonings for a week or two and see if it alleviates symptoms.
Tomato and citrus: Tomatoes, citrus fruits, and their juices may trigger symptoms for some people - including tomato sauce, salsa, ketchup, oranges, grapefruit, and lemon or lime.
Coffee, alcohol, chocolate, and mint: Coffee, alcohol, chocolate, peppermint, and spearmint may worsen symptoms for some people. If you're not sure what's triggering you, test one change at a time rather than cutting everything at once.
Acid Reflux Diet Tips That May Help
Once the immediate discomfort settles, the goal shifts. Instead of asking "What can I eat right now?" you're thinking about longer-term habits - building an eating pattern that helps you spot triggers and avoid repeat flare-ups.
Many people search for natural remedies for heartburn, but the most useful 'remedies' are often simple food and lifestyle habits. Gregg explains.
Eat smaller meals
Large meals may worsen reflux symptoms for some people. Try eating slowly and stopping before you feel full.
Wait before lying down
Eating close to bedtime can make reflux worse for some people. Try to finish meals at least 2 to 3 hours before lying down — eating dinner earlier is a simple strategy.
Add high-fibre foods
High-fibre foods may help meals feel more filling, which can make it easier to avoid overeating. Whole grains, root vegetables, and green vegetables are common reflux-friendly choices.
Choose lean proteins
Lean proteins can help you build lower-fat meals, which may be easier to tolerate if high-fat foods trigger your reflux. Lean meats, seafood, and egg whites are commonly listed as reflux-friendly protein choices.
Limit trigger foods
Common foods to avoid with acid reflux may include greasy foods, spicy foods, coffee, chocolate, alcohol, mint, tomatoes, and citrus fruits.
You don't have to remove every possible trigger forever. Start with the foods or drinks that show up most often before your symptoms, then try simple swaps. For example, choose banana or melon instead of citrus fruit, baked sweet potatoes instead of fries, or grilled fish instead of fried fish.
IGN has just released an 8-minute gameplay video for The Blood of Dawnwalker. This video gives us a sneak peek into the Pearly and Precious mission, showcasing the gameplay from start to finish.
While the mission is relatively short, it introduces us to a fascinating new creature known as the sanzhana, or "pixie." This addition promises to bring a fresh twist to the game, and I can't wait to see how it fits into the overall story and gameplay mechanics.
Hey everyone!
Microsoft has just rolled out Xbox Backward Compatibility for PC, and it's officially available in Early Access starting today! This means that for the first time ever, you can dive into some classic original Xbox games right from your PC or handheld devices.
This initiative aims to bring classic Xbox games back to life, with fan-favourites like Blinx and Conker leading the charge.
Currently, there are four nostalgic titles that you can enjoy:
BLiNX: The Time Sweeper
Conker: Live and Reloaded
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Fusion Frenzy
This is a fantastic opportunity for those who have fond memories of these games and want to relive the experience, or for new players who are curious about the classics. The backward compatibility feature opens up a treasure trove of gaming history, allowing players to explore titles that defined a generation.
Despite the challenging news of 3,200 job cuts and the closure of four studios, Xbox seems determined to reassure its community that it remains committed to gaming. The internal discussions about the future may seem a bit muddled, but the introduction of backward compatibility is a positive step that many gamers have been eagerly awaiting.
This program not only allows players to revisit beloved titles but also signifies a broader effort by Xbox to adapt and innovate in a rapidly changing gaming landscape. As the company navigates these transitions, the focus on nostalgia and classic gaming experiences could serve as a comforting reminder of what Xbox has always stood for.
The excitement surrounding this announcement highlights the enduring appeal of classic games and the community's desire to see them thrive on modern platforms. It's a great time for gamers to reflect on their favourite titles and look forward to experiencing them anew on PC.
So, whether you're a long-time fan or a newcomer, it's time to dust off those gaming skills and jump back into the action!
