Credit to Sevilla, they had to virtually rebuild their team this season with about 10 new players coming in. Not easy to get them all to gel in the first season. Where did they finish in La Liga this year? Navas looks emotional lifting the trophy, 2006 he won it with Sevilla and again this year. Can’t get many who have done that before, such a large timespan
Gasly would just get thrown about by the management in RB again if he moved back up. And they don't care about their second driver in RB. They tested the hard tyre in Barcelona at the expense of Albon's race. He wasn't doing that great languishing in 6th but that's just the way it is. You can't have two Verstappen's, but they need two if they want to start manipulating races with Mercedes. Albon needs to do a Sainz and get out of there. Maybe try to get into a Sauber Alfa Romeo.
Boring track, boring race. Vettel did well in spite of Ferrari, and a good day for Racing Point and McLaren. Verstappen did well enough too, but whatever tyre issues Mercedes had last week look to be resolved, which doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season - it’s a sad state of affairs when you need a car to have major issues for there to be any sort of interest in watching.
Not sure Tom, I'd imagine it will be bundled with the rest of the sports package. Hopefully, they will keep Redzone on Sky Sports Mix. If you can't buy just the Sky Sports NFL channel then maybe subscribing to NFL Game Pass is a better option. Sky Sports NFL viewers can look forward to the following: • Minimum of five live games each week • First-pick exclusive game on Sky Sports in the 6pm and 9pm slot every Sunday • Every Thursday Night, Sunday Night and Monday Night Football • NFL RedZone • Every minute of every playoff game, Pro Bowl and Super Bowl live • Flagship programming from NFL Network, including the popular Good Morning Football and Total Access shows • Award-winning documentaries and other content from NFL Films and NBC Sports • Brand new weekly shows to review the action and discuss the stories of the league, including original Sky Sports programming • Increased coverage across Sky Sports News, digital and social platforms • And much more...
I was out yesterday so had to watch the recording last night, glad I hadn't seen the result. Great race by Verstappen, and great strategy by Red Bull. In the end, Albon had a good race too. Vettel has checked out. I don't see him getting a drive next year tbh. Hulkenberg afterwards said he had a vibration that made the car undrivable, shame really because had he beaten his team-mate after just strolling in last week it would have been even more embarrassing for Stroll - I missed most of the weekend but didn't he beat Stroll in Qualifying and FP? I could be wrong.
Bournemouth won't end up doing to badly from Howe's signings if they sell them really Ibe only was a complete disaster and most managers have one of them on their CV. Ake they doubled their money. If they sell. King, they will make very good money on. Callum Wilson, they will make very good money on. Brooks, they will make huge money on. Solanke has the talent and I would not be surprised if the £20m the spent on him will look like a good deal when he plays the championship. Ibe was probably the worst of the signing but really £15m is nothing and there were plenty of Liverpool fans that were happy to let Sterling go to City because of highly they rated Ibe I don't think anyone would have predicted he would end up being released.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s is set to add the title of professional sports league owner to his entertainment résumé. The former WWE star turned actor has agreed to purchase the XFL for approximately $15m, alongside his ex-wife Dany Garcia and private investment firm RedBird Capital Partners. The professional American football league, which was conceived as a spring competitor to the NFL, filed for bankruptcy in April as the Covid-19 pandemic hit its finances. The league, the brainchild of WWE chairman Vince McMahon, was in its second iteration and teams had only played a few games before the competition was shut down, leaving players and coaches out of work. Johnson is no stranger to football: he played for the University of Miami between 1990 and 1994 before competing briefly in the Canadian Football League. He then found worldwide fame as a professional wrestler after his football career ended. “The acquisition of the XFL with my talented partners, Dany Garcia and [RedBird CEO] Gerry Cardinale, is an investment for me that’s rooted deeply in two things – my passion for the game and my desire to always take care of the fans,” said Johnson in a statement on Monday. “With pride and gratitude for all that I’ve built with my own two hands, I plan to apply these callouses to the XFL, and look forward to creating something special for the players, fans, and everyone involved for the love of football.” XFL president Jeffrey Pollack called the Johnson and his partners “a dream team ownership group and the XFL is in the best possible hands going forward”. He added that the XFL’s story had got “a Hollywood ending”. The XFL lasted one season in its first incarnation in 2001, before McMahon invested $200m in restarting it this year. However, when Covid-19 shut down professional sports earlier this year it was unable to survive. The league drew an audience of 3 million in its first week but ratings fell thereafter. The new ownership group did not say when they would restart the league but ESPN reported the XFL could play in an isolation bubble similar to that of the NBA as early as next year.
Fair play to Arteta for winning anything with that defence and midfield. He's really starting to turn them into a difficult team to play against. More like Rafa than Pep if we're comparing him to Spanish coaches. Agreed, the referee had a shocker. They need to change the VAR rules to correct all mistakes - the technology is there so use it!!
I actually think in the last two games he might have stumbled across his best approach. The defence isn’t strong enough to have them as league contenders but if he tries to sit back, soak up pressure and sneak a goal or two he could get them back in contention for the Europa positions and a cup run. The big question is would the fans accept the reality or expect more.
From the very top of the CAS verdict. 'MANCHESTER CITY FC DID NOT DISGUISE EQUITY FUNDING AS SPONSORSHIP CONTRIBUTIONS' UEFA should be ridiculed and investigated for their serious allegations of dishonesty & concealment with insufficient evidence to back it up and not understanding their own rules. Javier Tebas taking it as well as expected. LaLiga president Javier Tebas on City winning appeal against CL ban: “We have to reassess whether the CAS is the appropriate body to which to appeal institutional decisions in football. Switzerland is a country with a great history of arbitration, the CAS is not up to standard.” The likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid certainly have no right at all to moan given the numerous advantages (some deemed to be illegal) that they have enjoyed and the numerous dodgy dealings that they have both indulged in over the years.
Verstappen was a sitting duck throughout. With that predictability, it was quite boring. The only thing worse than a predictable race is a predicable race because of a rule gimmick like super-degradable tyres. The midfield is where all the interest is - will be following Racing Point and McLaren more so than the cars at the front.
About 75% of the national league teams are full time. Fylde are bankrolled by a sugar daddy and are paying daft wages, helped by a shirt sponsorship deal with another of the owner’s companies worth £450,000 Salford’s wage bill when they were in the national league was frankly ridiculous - Adam Rooney over four grand a week basic.
