England could easily host the tournamnet on their own, they have enough stadia. It doesnt seem logical to rope in Ireland and Wales. The US could easily have hosted it on its own in 2026, they probably have 50 stadia that would be suitable. Canada were made a part of the bid to guarantee automatic qualification and boost the game in the country. Mexico are perennial qualifiers so it frees up another qualifying space to Concacaf. Its all about politics and money.
I think Clarke is a good manager and under normal circumstances would be a good pick but I'd worry he's not the right man for the rebuild they're facing into this summer. It looks like they're in the process of hiring a director of football so that may help but I think it will be a tough sell for season ticket holders. In recent history Celtic pushed the boat out twice when hiring managers, Martin O'Neill and Brendan Rodgers and both times it paid dividends with Champions League football and very successful teams. This is where they should be looking again.
Phenomenal golfer. That chip in on 16 at The Masters a few years back that took an age to drop was one of the best golf shots I’ve ever seen. In fact, here it is. However, there’s something a little sad about Tiger Woods’ story in spite of all of the success, fame and fortune. Hopefully, he can walk again and return to some kind of full health.

The standard of refereeing in the Premier League is shocking. The introduction of VAR has only further highlighted it. Don't forget the persons making the decisions through VAR are the referees themselves. VAR is inconsistent because the refs implementing it on any given match day are so inconsistent not because the idea itself is flawed. The standard of refereeing in the Champions League, for example, is much better. No referee deserves abuse though. Soccer has a lot to learn from rugby in that regard. It still exists among fans of rugby over social media but the rugby authorities at least attempt to tackle it on the field. I enjoy the fact that rugby refs are mic'd up, that they actually engage with players and explain their decisions, that they are not surrounded and hounded by screaming players and there is no tolerance for backchat. It sets an example for players and fans at lower levels. On the subject of rugby and VAR, I think soccer can learn something there too. Compare how the offside line or even whether a pass if forwards or backwards is reffed by the TMO to how soccer implements VAR for offside calls. No line drawing in rugby. If it is not obviously forward or offside the onfield decision stands. No arguments. No major delays.
The Chiefs were not good. They couldn’t give Maholms any time and the two deep zone setup kept Kelce and Hill in front of them. While the officiating was a little uneven against the Chief’s defense, it didn’t decide the game. The Chiefs inability to get the ball into the end zone decided the game. The Tampa defense was phenomenal and should get a lot of the credit for the win.
Yeah I'd say that secretly Barca are happy that this came out. The world knows that they are in a very very bad position financially. And now, it looks that the main reason that they are in such a poor position is because of the massive wages that Messi is earning. Obviously being the best player that has played the game deserves a massive pay deal, but this is another level. Other top players at Barca took a big pay cut this year. I'm not sure if Messi did or not? The way it's being painted now at the moment, if Messi does leave on a free transfer this summer, Barca fans will know that the club will be in a much more stable financial position. Or at least that is what can be sold by the club at least.
He took PSG to a Champions League final when prior to him they were bottlers in the knockout rounds. He also managed to keep arguably the biggest dressing room of egos in football largely happy (although he does have a tendency to take issue with the board so that's one to keep an eye on). Plays good, attacking football which Abramovich demands. Has the ability to get the most out of players. Turned Bernat into one of the best LBs in Europe last season, managed to turn Choupo-Moting from a Stoke reject into a player Bayern desired. He could be key to getting the most out of his compatriots Werner and Havertz. He's fluent in English, French and German so he should be able to communicate his ideas well to the squad. I think he can be their best coach since Conte.
