I don't know how I'd react to the news if it were me. I see myself as the person who must provide for and protect my family. If I knew I was going to die and be fearful for them and would struggle with the thought of not being there for them after I'd gone. https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/articles/cgejgnxzg32o The full interview - Sir Chris Hoy: Finding Hope - is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. I don't know very much about Ruben Amorim but he seems to have been successful in Portugal. It's going to be interesting to say the least but he's going to have his work cut out moulding this present group of misfiring players into his system of playing. We shall see, everyone thought ten Hag was a good appointment, and Mourinho too but they didn't bring the desired success.
The golden decade of boxing. Ali had a great fight plan, whereas Foreman had a terrible one. There was no way he could fight at that pace for 15 rounds. The 5th round was brutal. Foreman handed out some amount of punishment and Ali was stuck on the ropes but Ali finished the round strong. Foreman tired visibly after that round, he had almost punched himself out. Ali just waited for the right moment and finished him in the 8th. Radio 5 has a good episode on the fight https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0k19wvv
Manchester City and Spain midfielder Rodri has won the Ballon d'Or in Paris. Barcelona and Spain's Aitana Bonmatí retained her Ballon d'Or Feminin, while Lamine Yamal became the first player under the age of 18 to win the Kopa Trophy. Argentina and Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez also became the first goalkeeper to retain the Yashin Trophy. Rodri, 28, beat Vinicius Junior to the top men's award with the Real Madrid forward finishing second and team-mate Jude Bellingham completing the the top three. He becomes the first Premier League player to claim the award since Cristiano Ronaldo in 2008 and becomes the first Spanish winner of the men's award for over 60 years having won the Premier League title, Club World Cup and European Championship during an outstanding campaign for club and country. Bonmati, one of six Barcelona Femeni players nominated for the women's award, finished ahead of club team-mates Caroline Graham Hansen and Salma Paralluelo in the voting to retain the trophy having been named the winner in 2023. She becomes just the second women's player to win the award in consecutive years, following team-mate Alexia Putellas. The 26-year-old scored a career-high 19 goals across all competitions as Barcelona retained the Women's Champions League and won a fifth straight Liga F title. At international level, she helped Spain win the inaugural Women's Nations League in February to add to her Women's World Cup winner's medal from 2023. Lamine Yamal, meanwhile, won the Kopa Trophy — the award for the best under-21 player. The Barcelona teenager is the first player under the age of 18 to win the award having made history at Euro 2024 as the youngest-ever player to score at a European Championship. Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo finished third. Emiliano Martinez won the Yashin Trophy, given to the best goalkeeper of the season, for the second consecutive year. The 32-year-old was a mainstay in the Aston Villa side that qualified for the Champions League before playing every game in Argentina's Copa America triumph in the summer. The Gerd Muller award for the most goals in 2023-24 was shared by Harry Kane and Kylian Mbappe, who both scored 52 times for club and country. USWNT coach Emma Hayes was named women's coach of the year after guiding Chelsea to the Women's Super League title and the U.S. to Olympic gold. Carlo Ancelotti won the men's coach of the year award after leading Real Madrid to the La Liga title and a record-extending 15th Champions League. Spain forward Jennifer Hermoso won the Socrates award for her humanitarian work.
The Friedkin Group have agreed a deal to acquire a majority stake in Everton The Friedkin Group, who also own AS Roma, were close to agreeing a deal to buy Everton a few months ago, only to announce they were pulling out due to concerns over loans which the club had taken up with other investors. A spokesperson for The Friedkin Group added: "We are pleased to have reached an agreement to become custodians of this iconic football club. "We are focused on securing the necessary approvals to complete the transaction. We look forward to providing stability to the club, and sharing our vision for its future, including the completion of the new Everton Stadium at Bramley-Moore Dock."

Delighted for Leclerc, hoping it's a sign of greater things for Ferrari. McLaren is still not realising they are in the Drivers' Championship unfortunately. Piastri overtaking Norris and then turning the first stint into a sprint instead of managing the Ferraris cost them victory. With Max down in 6th it's such a missed opportunity.

I'm the same. No idea what the rules are. Don't look like there is any? The nets must mean a bigger score? It's a cracking sport looks like. Hard as nails. That tackle where he smashed his legs in half only to follow through and knee him in the head. Just stretched and got on with it.
