Since we're now seeing quite a few teams with financial difficulties

If a couple of them were lost, could we see teams fielding 3 drivers? It could be the only way to keep numbers on the field
I'd imagine there's a "minimum cars" clause in the rules or the FIA's agreement with Liberty somewhere, IIRC it came up when the Caterham and Marussia teams collapsed towards the end of 2014 which would have left just 18 cars.

That said, could you imagine having 6 cars all belonging to the Red Bull group, and the top 3 teams getting to all but dominate the points-paying positions? ?

Yeah, I wouldn't be opposed to it in principle but a Mercedes 1-3 would kill off the competition.

Imagine the driver politics and team orders!

If 3 cars were to happen, rather than ensuring it just being a Merc 1, 2, 3 instead of a Merc 1. 2, I wonder would making the 3rd driver have to be a rookie or someone with a max amount of races make it a bit fairer, plus it would give more drivers a chance at F1 and if they can swim they swim.

There's no denying that's a gorgeous livery.
Sseems like McLaren are really struggling financially.. Got to be a concern for Ricciardo? I mean, he's pretty much burnt his bridges with both Red Bull and Renault..
McLaren have got their loan (£150m) from the Bank of Bahrain - McLarens preferred creditor.

A Vettel renaissance would be a fairytale, imagine him basically being booted out of Ferrari after winning the title, unlikely but peak Ferrari

I hope Racing Point close the gap to the top 3 this year, along with McLaren

So, who is everyone rooting for then?

I'd like to see Vettel win the driver's championship (never thought I'd say that) as it would be typical Ferrari to win, and then lose the driver. It would also be somewhat strange to see a WDC being forced to take a year off, unlike Rosberg making his own decision. I would also like to see Danny Ricciardo doing well and bringing Lando along for the ride. Be nice to see Williams score some points to maybe give them back some motivation and hope.

I had grown very bored in the past few years, being less and less motivated to watch a whole procession race. Now that it's been missing a while my interest has grown again so fingers crossed for some entertainment this coming weekend.

I am fed up of the Mercedes and Hamilton dominance of the sport in the last few years. I would love to see Vettel win it or even Max Verstappen anyone but Hamilton this year. I hope it's a good tight fight at the front with at least 4 drivers fighting to be the champion at the end. I would like to see Daniel Ricciardo and Renault do well to and McLaren also. Hopefully William's do better this season as well.
