A graceful, elongated pose where the dancer leans outward from the pole with the body in a straight, slightly arched line and one leg hooked or extended. The shape resembles the carved figureheads on the front of old sailing ships.
A beginner climbing technique using both knees or shins to grip the pole while pulling the body upward. Commonly taught before transitioning to more advanced climbs.
One of the most iconic beginner spins. The dancer grabs the pole with both hands, steps into the spin, and brings both legs around to clamp the pole between the thighs/shins. Creates a charming carousel-like rotation.
A dynamic drop where the dancer rotates from a semi-inverted position and "flops" or rolls gracefully into a seated or extended shape. Despite the name, the movement is controlled and fluid, not sloppy.
A stylised grip or pose where one elbow or knee hooks tightly around the pole while the body rotates outward, creating a dramatic hooked silhouette. Often used as a transition towards more complex inverted tricks.
